Lynch needs to be on the field more often...

As expected, it was a grind kind of game...

Kap out performed Smith... you can make an argument as to why or why not, but Kap was pressured far more and came out with the win and better stats and most importantly no TO's...

And lastly, I usually have to watch the game on DVR after work. Occasionally I peek in on this forums game day thread. Its amazing the doom and gloom over reaction negativity that goes on in that thread.. its almost a race to the keyboard when something doesn't go right in the game... just chill out people, its a long game and a long season! Watching the game afterwards and remembering some of the comments from that thread just makes me shake my head sometimes...

Good win considering what this team is missing at this point...

It can't imagine that it makes the game enjoyable to watch...

Speaking for myself sometimes I get too caught up in the games and just want to express my frustration just to let it out. But I usually only do that when something is really bad.

That is part of the reason why I put myself on a self imposed ban from the board and 49ers news in general. The negativity is getting bad and personally it's not something I want to be part of.

nothing wrong with expressing the frustration of the same ol miscues or mistakes over n over...

also nothing wrong when we cheer for the good to great plays made out there....

Can we add this as another SF victory by Alex Smith? Just kidding. I was hoping for an ending like the Broncos game where the ball was batted down on 4th down. But removing Alex from the equation, I love winning on an interception.

I thought we did a pretty good job staying in manageable 3rd downs but we seriously need to stop running Gore up the gut on 3rd and short.

Defenses are completely selling out to stop it and we just need some other plays to keep defenses honest in those situations.

Brandon Lloyds still got it after all these years. Arguable the best catch of the season.

Seems like teams continue to target Cully. Cox played well again yesterday and came up with another game sealing INT. When Brock is back- does he start for Cully?

I hope not. Culliver is clearly a better CB than Brock IMO. Hope the Niners give him an extension soon.

Yesterday Cox was targeted 5 times (3 were completed for 27 yards in his coverage area) and Culliver targeted 3 times (2 were completed for 28 yards and a PD).

When Brock returns, he'll start IMO.

With all of that said, for the record since I have a long history talking about him on other boards that others on here are aware of, I haven't been pleased with Culliver for quite a while now. If it weren't for him being a complete idiot off the field and as a person, and I feel pretty confident saying that to pretty much anybody, I'd still have an interest in at least SEEING what it would take financially to lock him up long-term. Not that I'd be a big advocate for actually giving him something long term.

Brock will start. Can't believe that's being asked.

Brian McIntyre:

Chiefs rookie De’Anthony Thomas had his 17-yd TD changed from pass play to a run play. Alex Smith loses a TD pass.

Seems strange that that's a "handoff," yet a forward shovel pass is a pass. I understand why the differentiate, but for the purposes of fantasy football, for instance, it seems silly.

I think part of the frustration, or perceived excess of it, has to do with people's expectation of this team. For SF Fans, it is Super Bowl or bust. To get to and win a Super Bowl, can't be playing making silly mistakes. There is little room for error in the NFC West on top of that so every game counts

Gore was absolutely a monster - good things happen when you feed him the ball. The OL continues to suck in pass protection, Boone was beaten like a drum by Dontari Poe in the 3rd quarter on one of Kap's sacks. Red zone offense continues to be a problem (too many FGs), and 3rd and short continues to be our achilles heel. And lack of pass rush again resurfaced today, ZERO sacks. Aldon cant come back soon enough.

PS: Clock mismanagement again. - 3rd and goal from the 15 and we throw it in the endzone to Boldin, it goes incomplete and clock stops at 2:17. Since we are kicking a FG anyway, why not run Gore again and take the clock down to the 2 min warning? Then kick the FG and leave the Chiefs 1:55 instead of 2:12. That kind of crap will cost us against better QBs.

Brandon Lloyd make a couple great catches, but he's not a 4.3 guy, so he's not a deep threat. We need Ellington instead. . .

Not knocking Ellington, but my question is:

Is a deep threat someone who can get an extra half yard of separation running in a straight line, or someone who doesn't get the same separation, but can catch a ball 40 yards down field while smothered by a DB?

I'd still probably have Ellington (or Patton) on the field than Lloyd, but I was a super Lloyd stan at one point (He made one of my favorite catches of all time).

I like that Roman has been getting Ellington the ball in space so he can use agility and acceleration to beat defenders, but I'm waiting on him to do more downfield before I'll call him a deep threat.
