i don't get the debate. the owners locked out the players last time, didn't they? they spewed bull reasons, didn't they?

i don't care to defend the players or the NBAPA. but the owners can suck an egg if they want an ounce of sympathy from me. don't screw yer fans over. don't lock out yer players. we get gorged on ticket prices, parking prices, beer prices, hot dog pr--- actually the bargain dogs are cool. anyway, i remember the 94 baseball lockout because my dad-- who was a die hard Dodgers fan-- stopped watching baseball. he never really came back as a baseball fan.

I blame the owners because they're the ones who are **** responsible by definition. they're the bosses. they're the ones whose job it is to create the entertainment that i pay exorbitant (extortionate) prices to watch.

don't blame the players. blame the bosses. even if the players deserve blame, then i would still blame the owners for not managing their businesses better.

and if they lockout in 2017 then i'll seriously start looking into following the euroleagues.

Sure the owners locked them out, but the point is many of them were losing money. Sure there are some who make money hand over fist but the majority were probably near break even and some were losing. I don't really like to side with either side but I would side with the owners over the players typically.

I'm not sure how it will all playout next time, but with this tv deal, EVERYONE should come out ahead no matter what. Theoretically they could lower ticket prices and concessions across the board, give players significant raises, and STILL increase revenue.

But I generally agree with you in the sense that the biggest loser in all of this is the fans by not seeing games, by having high ticket prices and concessions anyway, etc.

Personally I don't care much to go to games. I've been to plenty in many arenas and enjoy them and typically just scalp a ticket and get a very good deal. If I can buy NBA League Pass for $149 I'm happy. A lockout wouldn't even piss me off THAT much as long as it ended before football season was over. The season is too long anyway and I am always a fan of each game being more significant.

They side with players because they have to deal with players more than owners. They seldom do owner interviews. it's all about self interest.

I think Gerald actually gave himself that name, Espoo is just running with it.

The pre-occupation with nicknames in the NBA generally is horrible. Makes me cringe and it's so childish.

You say the players are taking "all the risk." What risk? Risk involves putting "something" of value on the line, knowing that you could lose it all. Players do not come into the nba and put their personal money into the NBA, they collect the money. They have no risk.

If your idea of risk was reality, I'm in. Players come and go, the nba does not. Personally I'll watch any player in a suns uniform, even if it's a replacement player.

If you want to get mad because I don't feel the same way as you, cool.

lol, I just disagree, I'm not mad... I think you're projecting a bit here.

And the notion that the players "risk nothing" is hilarious. They risk their bodies, that has value. They can suffer an injury at any time and their career is over in the blink of an eye. The owners meanwhile risk nothing under the current CBA. Its a guaranteed profit churning machine. Hell, these guys can run a franchise like garbage, bring public humiliation upon the league and STILL cash out for billions of dollars. They have ZERO risk right now.

Again, if you want to take the league to task on account of greed then the owners deserve more scorn than anyone. If there is a labor stoppage you can bet its going to be the ownership that does it, just like last time... and just like back in 1999.

I just saw in the wiretap that Kenneth Faried got 5 years/60 million. That's crazy!!! 12 a year for a forward that hustles and grabs boards. Don't get me wrong, those are very important qualities as we already know (Tucker) but he isn't a force on the offensive end besides lobs as far as I know and he is good defensively I think but 12 million?!?!?! I just think that's a massive overpay but maybe this won't be once the new T.V. deal sets in and the cap rises.

With Thomas and Bledsoe on board, there's no way Dragic will look like a max player next summer. I think he'll get a contract comparable to Bledsoe, tops.

Len with a muscular frame would be an intimidating sight.

The guy aint no David Robinson, but he looks wider and bigger than Dwight Howard... I'm pretty sure Len will be approaching 7'2 by now... he looks like a legit 7'1 guy atleast.

Offensively, he can be a handful, if he is aggressive... defensively he just needs to hold his position and hands up straight and he'd alter many shots.

Did you see the scrimmage? He look big and in shape. He is going to be intimidating.

He's worse than Leander when trying to give a guy a nickname and then force it to stick. He seems to believe if he says it enough times on every possible social media channel that it will automatically become part of our vernacular.

Not only that, he doesn't like when someone else makes up a nickname. For example, he went to great lengths last season to do away with the 'Plumdog' moniker for Miles. So it's okay for you to make up a stupid nickname but not someone else? How much are the Suns paying this guy?

Even so, he doesn't have to shove it down our throats. Use it when applicable and see if it catches on. It reminds me of when Leander tried to make the Boris Diaw "3-D" nickname stick. He'd say it ever other word and then take a few minutes every broadcast to explain what it meant. Espo is the same way when he's trying to get fans to embrace a nickname. Last year he hated Plumdog, so first he did all he could to make fans stop using it, but then he came up with his own..... Air Miles. He still uses it to this day, and he's the only one.

Both of owners and players are the 1 percenters. Probably more like the 0.5 percenters. Its hard to be sympathetic to either group when they make so much more than the common man who struggles to make ends meet. Why don't they all take a huge paycut and reduce the ticket, beer, and hotdog prices by 50%. Maybe then they would fill the arena on a regular basis.

I'm starting to get a little concerned since this is becoming a trend. It's one thing when a guy misses time due to a major (and/or unexpected) injury. The worst is when a guy misses chunks of time here and there due to very minor injuries (sprains, soreness, fingers, toes, hands, etc). Let's hope this is merely bad luck early in Len's career and doesn't become what he's known for.
