Michael Crabtree

Post#1 » by bmvanthiel » Mon Oct 6, 2014 12:42 am

Crabtree's been a pretty big disappointment this year, I was expecting some pretty big things from him and for him to show that he is a #1 receiver this year.

What do you think the deal is with him? Is he dealing with an injury? Kaepernick just spreading the ball more?

Honestly, Crabtree seems like the 3rd best receiver so far on the team. Boldin's been moving the chains making some tough catches and Johnson, although not used as much, has had some nice plays and some big plays so far this year.

Crabtree was the #1 person I wanted to be resigned and thought it was being underrated. There is a lot of season left but I'm slowly moving away from this opinion, especially with so many health concerns it seems like with Crabtree.

Injuries, guess he's been held out of practice here and there. Plus, Kaep is starting to trust Stevie more

He injured his foot last game and I have no problem with Kaep not forcing the ball to him. It's a breath of fresh air in that department. Plus Vernon is out which allows defenses to really focus on Crabs.

I think it's a combination of the injury (he only played like 40 of 70 snaps this week) and Kap looking elsewhere. That said, he's killing both my fantasy teams at present. I'm strongly considering dropping him.

Murphy's Law will tell you that the week you drop him, he will have a 3 TD game with over 100 yds. So I will tell you to drop him...for the sake of ALL of us.

I think he is gone after this year. Doesn't strike me as a guy who will be happy as a third option. Right now (regardless of reasons) He isn't getting a lot of looks and when VD comes back it will probably be even less. I think he will test the market and leave.

I agree. When the season began I for sure thought he was staying if the contract was right and Iupati gone.

While I still think Iupati will be gone with some of our promising OL depth I just don't see Crabtree staying. He hasn't shown enough this year yet at least and continues to get banged up. But we will see if crabs can improve later on and be healthy.

I would be fine next year rolling with boldin ,Johnson, Patton, Ellington and maybe even bringing Lloyd back and drafting a couple guys. It's just really nice having this depth this year as it has been one of our downfalls the last few years.

The third options is currently tied for first on the team in targets. Crabtree and Boldin each have 36. In third place is Stevie Johnson with 19. Davis, despite missing time with his injury, only has 12 targets.

I like Crabs more today than I did back in '09 when we drafted him, but I won't lose sleep over losing him in FA if it comes to down to it.

I'm in the same boat. I was really down on Crabtree in the draft and his rookie year (liked Maclin more at WR, and wanted Malcolm Jenkins). I think he should be our priority FA this offseason, but if he walks, we need to draft a WR early, and that WR needs to be a big play type.

Crabtree seems to always be hurt. He always seems to have some sort of ailment. He still plays, but it seems to affect how well he plays

Part injury and part of it is working as intended.

The whole reason we got all of these weapons is so we could spread the ball around and we didn't have to rely just on Crabtree, Boldin, and VD.

Defenses are going to make Crabtree and VD their primary focus which is going to leave favorable matchups to Boldin, Stevie, and Lloyd and Kap so far has done a good job of exploiting that fact.

Seriously. Dropped Kendall Wright last week, and he blew up this week.

And in my other league I made a trade for Demaryius Thomas that took effect on Monday.

Take one for the team and drop Crabs in both leagues. His foot won't fully heal until you drop him. It is what it is.

Haha. We'll see what he does this week, but I'll strongly consider it.

Man, that is pretty shocking. When you watch the games it seems like he is never involved. Either way, I still think he will leave after the season.

That happens. Especially Boom or Bust players. They kill you as often or more than they help you. Vincent Jackson was that way for me a couple of years back. Can't say I jumped for 49er players in our draft. Vernon Davis dropped far enough that I took him and so did Gore. Gore dropped low enough in the rankings to where he was sitting with alot of the 2nd stringers. I picked him up as a flex and for the last couple of weeks, he has been good. I just wish they would stop taking him out of goal line situations all the time, That hurts,

To be fair, a lot of those targets have not been passes with much chance at being completions.
