The one that bothers me the most is when I took Kevin Martin, because I was banking on getting Korver there for 3s at a high percentage, and when Gaspar took him I kind of scrambled to find someone. But looking at who went after him I'm not sure who I would have taken instead, if anyone. I ended up with him in H2H too because he really dropped.
The more I think about it, they probably need to spread the floor with Rubio not being able to shoot, I'm not sure what kind of range Wiggins has, etc. I'm just not sure if Wiggins will mostly play the 2 or if he will play the 3. Will they play Martin and Wiggins together or Wiggins more with Brewer or Budinger?
You already know this but for the benefit of others, the main pick I worry could end up being a little reach-y is Jabari at #68 on my D-League team. I really think he could have an objectively solid season as a rookie and round 6 felt like time to get him if I didn't want to lose him, but he could also just end up having a fine season for a rookie but bad for a round 6 pick. I'd love to see scoring, 8 rebounds and a block with some 3 point shooting mixed in, but you just never know - I could end up with 12 points, 4 rebounds or something that isn't significant fantasy-wise.
I think Martin is a fine pick - could end up being good value where you took him in Premier (which would mean steal value in H2H), but I agree that there's a question mark and he could underwhelm if others get the minutes.
In both our situations, if you think the guy is the best guy on the board for what you really need at the time, or you just have a gut about Jabari for example, (who I think will get points, but I'm not sure what else with the rebounders, shot blockers, etc he plays with)..I think you have to take them. Martin went in the 80s in the D league and SDF drafts, and I took him in the 70s, but if I didn't take him, he wouldn't have lasted until my next pick, which was in the 90s. The thing was, I didn't totally like him either. Just looking at his stats from last year he fit my needs, but I wasn't really totally thinking about Wiggins either. I think Wiggins will get plenty of minutes, but I assume Martin will too since someone needs to score, and Wiggins wasn't really necessarily a dominant scorer in college...I think he will become one, but I'm not sure yet.
Back to Parker, if you like a rookie, they are fun picks though....a hell of a lot more fun than a guy like Martin, and if you hit with them it's cool. I'm just a little unsure what most of them will do at the pro level unless it's a guy like Noel where it is pretty obvious. I think it is also obvious Parker is going to score a lot of points, and I think he will probably shoot decent percentages. If guys like Ily and Sanders are out again, he could have quite a few boards too, so it just depends.
One plus for me with the Martin pick, was that I got Joe Johnson next, and the more I thought about it, with Pierce gone, I think he could really increase his numbers and 3s and easily have a big improvement on stats, especially since Hollins makes them work harder and prep more.....he even mentioned that....that with Kidd they rarely practiced.
