Interesting that Nick Nurse said that shooting is the hardest skill to learn, contrary to popular belief of it being the easiest.

Probably easiest to teach but hardest to learn. Either players have touch or they don't.

Bruno's preseason debut was a disappointment....Until the 4th quarter. 2 for 2 from three point range. Great for him to get going at the end. Hopefully, this will help build his confidence and he'll be able to keep it up through the rest of the preseason. You da man Bruno.

After last nights game we can see that his lateral quickness needs to be improved to become an effective defender.

Success or disappointment for Bruno shouldn't depend on whether he made a shot or not. We already know he can shoot extremely well. Its the rest of his game that needs to catch up

Agreed, but if he had finished with a final stat line of 0 points, 0 rebounds and 0 assists, which looked like a possibility for a while, it probably wouldn't have been great for his confidence. Baby steps. He also finished with a +/- of 8 which is solid. Clearly, he has a long way to go as a defender, passer, ball handler and rebounder, but it'd be nice if he managed to find his way on the floor some time this year as an extra shooter. I want him to become a great defender, but if he can play the Novak role sooner than that, it ain't bad.

If he guards Melo at all, we know he'll get destroyed as Melo destroys most defenders, but with the Knicks defense he should get some open looks for himself. Could be another nice game to build up his confidence. Hope he does a bit more on the boards in this one.

You could just see that he wasnt very confident in where he was supposed to be. He looked very overwhelmed which is understandable. You could see he was trying to try hard and do the right thing but would fly out of position defensively and wasnt sure how to get involved offensively. I think at first he was waiting for his team to pass him the ball and they didnt, he didnt go get the ball. At the end on those 3s he actually called for the ball and that seemed to work and he seemed to understand that he's going to have to demand it. I expect he will look more comfortable game by game.

I'm thinking he'll draw Shump & THJ. 'Melo's gonna see AJo & JJo for the most part. To be honest, even with his added size & strength, even COMP10 would have a hard time defending Anthony.

You're right. My mistake. For some reason the MTL game is stuck at the forefront of my mind.

I don't know if I can agree with him here. If he's talking about the difference between shooting in-game and shooting in practice, I agree. Some players struggle to shoot in-game because of having a defender nearby, but they can shoot the lights out in practice.

But if we're talking about just the pure act of shooting, I would consider it the easiest skill to learn and develop over time. Ball handling, passing, defense, and rebounding are all instincts-based skills that are rarely ever able to be taught.

And this is precisely why I am not enamored over Bruno just yet. He's incredibly inexperienced, so he hasn't been able to learn some key fundamentals yet. It's a long road ahead for him, so all we can hope for is that he has the work ethic and drive to be great, and that our coaching staff, fans, and owners have the patience to wait several years for him to develop.

It's all work ethic in my opinion to be a good shooter. Look at Amare Stoudemire, Kris Humphries, Amir Johnson, and even more recently Tyler Hansbrough. Each of them have a story about developing a jumper over an off-season in which they took and made hundreds of shots each day. Prior to that, none of the aforementioned could be relied on to take any sort of shot outside the paint.
