Not having Nene/Blair will suck, but at least it is the heat, they aren't exactly a physically intimidating team. Hopefully more Pierce at the 4 as well as Gooden as a stretch 5.

So Pierce wasn't suspended, but Blair and Nene were?

I don't think Orton & Silas have much to worry about.

Hopefully this means we'll start Pierce & Porter at the 3 & 4 for game 1.

If you watch this video

Mirotic, Taj Gibson, Kirk Heinrich, and 2 other bulls players on the bench got up and on the court...suspend them

I don't mind being tough but I don't like this bad boy garbage. The NBA is going to come down hard if the Wizards lead the league in picking fights and are only about instigating sh-t. What's the point about being a bully if you can't be on the floor? Nene can't even stay on the floor and his dumb-ass leaves the bench only to be suspended again!

Chicago doesn't get the suspensions because it happened right near their bench.

To be honest, if all Pierce is going to bring is hard fouls, trash talking, bullying younger opponents and imposing his will on his teammates so that they are going to become street thugs instead of quality players, this will be a tough team to root for. This team isn't about PP, it's about Wall and Beal. He should understand his role and help them out instead of going that route.

The suspensions seem fair to me. Maybe they could have dinged some Bulls players too, but the incident happened in front of the Bulls bench. And, Pierce instigated it by getting in Butler's face and running his yap until someone HAD to respond. If Jimmy Butler had done the same thing to a Wizards player, we'd all be talking about how **** it was. It's **** when someone from the Wizards does it.

The suspension is fair but I saw quite a few Bulls' warmups in that replay. Where are their suspensions??

The rule is the rule (which is a bad one IMO). Amare/Diaw got suspended for less - so I think a few Bull players should have gotten suspended.

BTW, funny that baseball doesn't care as much about this problem.

Starting Pierce with Porter due to suspensions would be serendipity-- like found money from on the ground.

Humphries with Rice at SF is a pairing I'd like to see.

The Celtic teams in the 80s had a bunch of skilled thugs. McHale was brutal and so was DJ. The Bad Boy Pistons were thuggish with Laimbeer, Mahorn, and Rodman. Mahorn and Ruland were called the Bruise Brothers. There are many other examples of quality players who have been thuggish.

Personally, I am thrilled that the Wizards are a kick ass group. The team is going to mimic their coach. Wittman is not a softie. Bullies drain their opponents psychologically if the opponent is mentally weak or timid. (Remember Nocioni dunking on Stewie Pecherov?) I knew Faried would be a "bully" and Vesely would likely shy away from physical play. I was positive intimidation would be an asset of Demarcus Cousins.

Pierce is at the stage of his career where guile and meanness are going to be go to tools. Michael Jordan the Wizard of a dozen years back was a nasty, surly, guile full player IMHO. Kobe and Dwyane Wade are similar to Pierce--they will do anything to win.

My hope is Pierce can still be an offensive closer. If so, he will be a terrific addition.

Pierce is bringing exactly what we need. We need an edge. I have no problem with it. Its' not about being the most liked team, bottom line it's about winning and doing whatever it takes to get that mental edge. Just look at the makeup of the roster. We have a big, brusing physical front line. We don't have to be the Detroit Bad Boys, but we should be playing to our strengths.

Um, yeah. Just like the Spurs.

Considering the the Wizards playoff success last year was due heavily to matchups that were determined on the final day of the regular season, getting suspensions for this foolishness is galactically stupid. PLay the game and STFU.

I'm not sure if it's right or wrong, but here was the best explanation for why the Bulls players might not have been suspended:

dougthonus wrote:While I agree Noah's fine seems BS, or at least BS that Pierce had the same fine and not a heftier one for poking Noah in the face which is far more of an instigating action, I will say that the Wizards were still far more screwed than the Bulls with the four suspensions.

The Bulls effectively got off on a technicality, players are allowed to leave the bench during a review, and they were reviewing the foul. The Wizards were allowed to leave the bench but drifted too close to the fight. Only reason they're all suspended and Bulls players aren't is the fight was in front of the Bulls bench.

Seems like something where no one should have been suspended to me.

At any rate...that rule is garbage in general, but it's absolutely insane that it was required to be enforced in game one of the preseason because a 36 year old fouled someone kinda hard and then wouldn't shut his mouth about it.

On a side note: what did Jimmy Butler do to the Wizards? First Nene, now Pierce. If Drew Gooden hip checks him I'm going to have to assume he slept with someone's wife.

Meh, it's one game, and if it means we play a tougher style that teams have to respect, it'll be good for us in the long run.

**** the Bulls. Even if it's pre season, it was glad to punk them again. I'm getting really sick of that dirty thug team. I hope we get them again in the post season, we own those donkeys.
