I still wouldn't touch this line, but if you want to be optimistic, look at it this way:

1) The Pistons' roster overall is either average or at least very close to average in talent, top to bottom.

2) The Piston's head coach is definitely above average

3) We're not old, but we're not ridiculously inexperienced, either

Put all that together, playing in the weaker conference, and there's definitely potential for a .500 record and a playoff spot. It all comes down to internal improvement from the youngsters, playing closer to the right way for the boneheads, and internalizing SVG's systems as soon as possible.

Even the biggest pessimists should realize it's possible. I'm a slight pessimist at this point, so I'm not going to say it's likely, but if you FORCED me to make a bet on 36.5 wins, I'd take the over, not the under.

I've probably swung a little to far towards the pessimist side of the spectrum, but I don't think a successful season for this team is a .500 record. To be honest, If they hit 35 wins, but it looks like they're doing the right things organizationally, I'll be ecstatic. Having the players actually buying into what the coach is spitting out, having guys happy with their role on the team, whether they be starting, off the bench, or not even dressing. Seeing an offense and defense being implemented that they can actually retain past a single season. Those are all the things I'm looking for. Wins this season don't really mean much, because at best we'll be getting swept out of the playoffs in the first round. I'd rather see a solid foundation being built, and some chemistry developed for the future.

If anything, we should be somewhat hoping for another lottery pick, and waiting to see everything start to gel at the end of the season to get a good vibe rolling into 2015.

I'll be rooting for them as much as anybody else come game time, don't get me wrong. I just don't think wins and losses will really tell the whole story for this team's progress.

W & L definitely won't tell the story this year, I agree. I don't think tanking is the right move, though -- not that it matters, because SVG isn't capable of it. We need to win some games, dammit. We need to develop some players and make people happy to be here.

We've gotten dangerously close to becoming a toxic outhouse location for players. We've overpaying guys and settling for third best far too often. That'll change... as long as things look better. Get dem wins.

This is easily under, the Pistons top is 35 wins for me if everything goes alright, ultra optimistic could say 38, but is easier to see them being below 36.5 than over.

Is pretty spot on though, I can see them winning 36.

Wait, so if all goes well you see the MAXIMUM being 35 wins, yet you can see them winning 36 and that's spot on?

If you're going to come on here and say negative things about our team I don't think its too much to ask that you at least be internally consistent.

I won't speak for anyone else, but I'm tired of reading your negative comments, particularly because your allegiance lies with another team. Bye.

So are we marking the Mavs down for 60 wins then? You did say 25 more wins I believe.

I offer you a bet. If your Mavs win 25 games more than my Pistons. I will put the Mavs title winning years in my signature for all of the following season. If not, you put all 3 Pistons title winning seasons in yours.

Something to the extent of:

Pistons/Mavs NBA Champions:
1990
1991
2004
2011
20??
