I think the change has already begun. Not only basketball culture wise, but the Kobe extension and the Lakers role in the last lockout. The fact that we went and paid Kobe again, IMO, shows to those guys that we're not the team holding **** up for the players, that we're on their side, and that if there is another lockout, it'll be because of teams like LeBron's beloved Cavs and Durant's Thunder.

Anyways, we shall see.

With how close players are these days, I hope CP3 is already devising a strategy now.

If Silver can't broker a deal without a work stoppage, then he's exactly what I thought he'd be when he was coming in: worse than Stern.

We'll see what happens. But the new union president sounds she's a total ass kicker, and then the owners are the owners. When you have a player base that feels like they got screwed, and then an ownership group that might want even MORE concessions, that could be a recipe for disaster. It's like LeBron said yesterday: Everybody wants what they want, but they don't want to give up anything.

That's nice and all, but they'd both be leaving championship contenders, and they'd have to sacrifice money to do it (at least under the current agreement). I just don't see that happening. EDIT: Frankly, I think the alleged message delivered by our extension to Kobe has been grossly exaggerated, primarily by fans. Until we're at a press conference where Superstar Free Agent A cites it as a major reason why he signed here, it's not even on my radar.

Play together and be able to choose your teammates because the roster is practically blank and we have all the money to spend.

i would prefer either. not both. and also i would rather have durant over lbj. seems boring to me to have them in the same team.

we might have 3 max slots but we wont be the only 1 and our max slots thus far hasn't yielded anything.

Not only that, but Washington will likely get two max slots out of this to go along with Wall, Beal, etc... I'd much rather go there if I was KD then to an empty roster where it is not guaranteed we'd grab another star, etc.

KD to LA is probably about as big of a pipedream as there is - we should all move on from that, imo.

I don't think many here believe KD would come to LAL...more so we hope to nab Westbrook in the fallout.

Who knows what will happen with KD/Westbrook... Those 2 need each other. If one goes, you might as well trade the other. KD's a lot like Dirk in that he can be the best player on the team but he's a little one dimensional and he needs a lot of help to mask his deficiencies on both sides of the court. If Westbrook goes, they're going to need to find another dynamic scorer and quick/athletic defensive presence on the perimeter to allow KD to play in his comfort zone...

And the urgency has got to be there this season. This is their year, if it's ever going to be for the foreseeable future... Clev is at the weakest they're expected to be right now and they're only going to get stronger barring some epic meltdown... This has GOT to be OKC's time to win it all. If they don't, they're going to have to make some major changes.

I also keep expecting KD to wake up and look around and guys like LeBron etc, and start wondering about HIS brand and the GREENer pastures a bigger market might provide...

I'm not emotionally invested in us landing KD, but I certainly wouldn't discount the possibility out of hand at this point.

Exactly. Even ignoring the "brand" stuff , if they don't get it done this year, Durant might starting looking at management a little harder. Even moving past the Harden stuff, the franchise wasn't even willing to pay Thabo Sefalosha, and as of now they have no starter at 2. Fans are debating between Roberson, Lamb, and PJ3 as the starting wing opposite Durant. That's not a pretty picture. What if they elect not to pay Reggie Jackson next season?

There's also the Russell factor, where KD might feel like he's a better fit with someone else, or conversely Russ might start to feel like Kobe used to and want some limelight for himself. You just never now.

I'd never want Lebron here, but I'd absolutely be ecstatic if we were to attract KD, and I actually don't think it's totally outlandish if Randle shows himself to be a potential top 5 power forward and/or we sign a guy like Dragic or Marc Gasol next year. I used to think there wasn't much of a chance he leaves, but I think now it's at least something worth looking at. Especially if they keep letting key role players go. Lebron was rubbed the wrong way by what Miami did with Mike Miller, and the Thabo situation is much worse. If KD starts to feel some kinda way, that opens the door (even if its a crack) for us to grab his ear.

We all know Mitch can talk that ****
