Up until the start of last year. If I am remembering this quick study I did correctly. If you count Kyrie's year at Duke and Bynum's playoff games. They played about the same percentage of games they could play in. Kyrie with just a few percentage points higher.

His backup is Dellavedova. The dude better be pretty good, otherwise Lebron is going to have to play point and defend the paint at the same time
In Kyrie's three seasons, he's played 51/66, 59/82, and 71/82 games. Dude's straight up injury prone. And then so is Varejao, Haywood, Miller... Kevin Love really isn't that terribly durable either. This group is every bit as unreliable as the Heat's roster and amplifies the flaws the Heat had on defense. I'm not even sure I'd take Cleveland over a Rose-less Bulls team (let's hope that doesn't happen yet again).

So what do you guys think about Thompson wanting the max? Do you think he gets it? With the new TV deal coming down the pipe anyone who is close to max level will likely shoot for it because it is not going to be such a big deal in two years.

Re: Around the NBA 5.0
how do you guys see the twolves pg, sg, sf rotation playing out this year? they have a ton of guys who either deserve minutes or need minutes to develop. i have no clue how flip will manage those minutes
pg: rubio, mo williams, barea
sg: martin, brewer, lavine,
sf: wiggins, budinger, shabazz
on any given night 3 of those dudes probably dont see the floor. they will be bad, so do they prioritize giving minutes to lavine and shabazz or do they lean on the vets who deserve minutes like mo, barea, brewer and budinger? you know rubio, martin and wiggins are going to get their 30 minutes a night. good luck flip.

knowing the twolves luck, half those guys will get injured and the rotation will pick itself.

I wouldn't be surprised if you see a couple of guys get shipped out at some point. I could see the vets getting the most run at the backup spots at the beginning to draw up interest and then ship them out to let the young guys get the experience. One of the two PGs and Brewer could be shipped out is my guess.
I don't know if Shabazz ever really gets significant time.

I would be thrilled if we could send a trade to land Martin to come off of the bench as a true 6th man. We don;t have anything Minny would want though, and I damn sure don't want to send any future picks.

I think he'll be a restricted free agent and like Parsons, will sign elsewhere unless the Warriors work out a deadline trade or sign and trade. I think he gets it but not from the Warriors.

Considering it would at the very least cost us Bismack and MKG, I'd decline easily. Rather clear off Marvin, Zeller, Hendo, and Roberts' contracts for a pick or young player and attempt to sign him next season. We'd only have MKG, extended Kemba, Lance, and Vonleh and Hairston, and one or two smaller contracts on the books, with Al and Biz to re-sign, then we'd certainly have the $$$ to sign Dragic to a large contract. Can you imagine going into 2015 with Al, Dragic, Kemba, MKG, Lance, Vonleh, Hairston, and Biz as our top 8?

The issue with the back-court is over-blown. Sure they have a lot of guards but I don't expect Goodwin, Ennis or Zoran to be important rotation pieces. They're basically 6 players for two positions with three of them not being proven commodities in the league. Moreover, the most important thing is that last season proved two things. First, is that Dragic and Bledsoe can guard twos, in Bledsoe's case it being not only "can" but can do it very well thanks to his physique. Second, Phoenix believes in having two primary ball-handlers on the court at the same time because of its fit in today's game. Today's defenses mostly overload the side of the court where the pick-n-roll occurs and try to force someone else to make a play. Other teams might have problems initiating the primary action, the pick-n-roll, and then swinging the ball across the court, either because their PG isn't the best decision maker, their spacing isn't that good or the players who are now forced to take advantage of that split-second of advantage aren't the best decision makers. Well, in Phoenix's case you take the ball out of, let's say, Dragic's hands and now you have Bledsoe with an opportunity to attack from what just was the weak-side and him having an advantage. Having two point guards out there is a real advantage, yet most teams can't do that because of the obvious downside on defense. That problem doesn't exist when you have big guards and good defenders in Dragic and Bledsoe.
We'll see how and if Thomas/Dragic works out, I assume Dragic will mostly get minutes as a PG alongside someone with more size (his brother, per example), while Isaiah will come off the bench to play the first minutes on the court with Bledsoe out there (side-note - Thomas alongside Bledsoe could help the poor stats that Phoenix's five-man units had when Bledsoe played without Goran). But if Thomas/Dragic does work out, Phoenix might be even more explosive than last year. They were one of my must-watch teams last year and they will be one of them again this year.
But, yeah, I counted Gerald Green as a 3 in my write-up. And then it creates a logjam at the 3 in which I can't find any logic.
I really think Green is the odd man out, while Tucker and Morris share the minutes at 3. As you know I don't know college ball that well so I probably underrate the impact TJ Warren could have. I've noticed that you think a great deal of him. Meanwhile, I simply view him as some rookie at this point.

Re: Around the NBA 5.0
no matter how you slice it for the suns, a really solid player is going to be sitting on the bench - either green, warren or someone else.
the thing about warren that makes him different from most rookies is he is ready to contribute immediately. green was fantastic last year when bledsoe was hurt. it would be a shame for him to be phased out of the rotation. tucker is their best wing defender and solid from corner 3s, so he makes sense in that lineup. perhaps marcus morris plays as a backup 4, with his brother getting more minutes at the 5.
agreed that ennis, zoran and goodwin arent in the rotation to start the year.
