Yahoo Fantasy Ball

Post#1 » by co_laper » Sat Oct 11, 2014 4:13 am

Any of you guys interested in playing in yahoo fantasy league? This will be my first year and i thought if we have enough people, we could start our own one just for the Spurs fans in our board. Could be fun.

I've never even played in one so if we can get enough people, hopefully you can be the commish and set everything up. I just wanna try it, play, and have some fun.

What is the minimum amount of player that we should have? We don't have many Spurs fans to begin with here.

I believe you can do a league with 2 or more teams.

I'm in one with 8 teams. That's a good size I think. That way you're basically drafting the top 100 players and you still have extras left over in FA during the season.

Yeah I'm happy to be Commish if you like.

We can "advertise" for players on the fantasy boards here, if we're short.

Got the 2nd pick in my other fantasy league last night, laughed at my friend when he took LeBron over Durant. So I snapped up KD. %$^#^*@*@(!(!(

We also need to agree on a time to draft, if we do go with the standard live draft. Where about in the world are we all?

Do we have enough people yet? By my count, only 4 has agreed.

Anyways.. Live auction draft looks interesting. As far as the points go.. I dont really understand it. Head to head.. But i dont really get the difference between them.

I think we'll lock it at 8 teams. That's what we did in the other league and it makes for a more even competition and the drafting process was pretty quick. We did a standard draft but I'm intrigued by the live auction. Maybe we'll try that for this league.

I think Nolan was going to sticky this thread and try to get more Spurs fans to join? I can make a thread on the RGM fantasy board to grab more teams. Shouldn't be a problem to fill the league.

Yeah to be honest I'm a little confused by the scoring method as well. I did H2H Weekly in our other league, makes the most sense to me so maybe we keep that for this league too.

I'm based in Australia for the time being, on the east coast in Sydney so presumably I'm around half a day or so ahead of my American counterparts? We'll need to arrange a suitable day and time to do the draft. Something that works best for people in different timezones.

OK guys.

I've done a mock auction draft and I gotta say it was pretty entertaining. I think we'll do that for this league if everyone is cool with it. The basic idea is that you're set a budget (in the mock it was $200, but it can be set as high as $999 per team) and you build a team with that cap. Each player takes turns nominating a player, and from there you have 30 seconds to bid on that player.

To put it in perspective, this is my team from the other league I am in (standard draft):

Lillard ($46)
Kobe ($27)
Oladipo ($12)
Chandler Parsons ($18)
Drummond ($25)
Al Jefferson ($50)
Vucevic ($20)
P Gasol ($12)
Afflalo ($4)
J Smith ($9)
Durant ($83)
Manu ($2)
Hibbert ($5)

In brackets is each players average auction price, meaning that to draft this team would cost $313.

I've locked the maximum number of teams at 8. So far we have three including me. If any Spurs fans want to join, now is the time. I'll post on the RGM fantasy boards to get more players in the next day or so.

I've got the draft set for 11pm Sunday the 19th, Sydney time -- which equates to 8am NY. Does this work for everyone?

Sorry, I know I brought the idea up. My uncle had a stroke on Sunday and I had to leave the league because I couldn't be on the draft. I haven't had the time to get online until now.
