The Eagles Thread

Post#1 » by Johnny Kilroy » Mon Oct 13, 2014 4:46 am

I'd like to start a thread on the Eagles, since the message board at eagles.com has been more or less removed.

5-1, and in my opinion, we haven't played a complete game yet. It comes down to Foles. He has been disappointing this year, but I still back him. If he can correct a couple things and get on a roll, the sky is the limit.

Connor Barwin. Love this guy. He is a freak specimen.

Any word yet on Sproles' knee? Hopefully it's just a bruise.

Was at the game and it was satisfying to see Eli eat dirt countless times. Blanking the Giants at home on national television ... doesn't get much better than that.

No one on gods green earth has a more punchable face than Eli's Derpy "I''m trying to remember to breathe" slingbladey face.

Great game. Heard only a few weeks for Sproles. Connor Barwin had a terrific game last night and we have him for five years for like 6 million a year. What a signing.

I don't REALLY care (See the 3 or 4 Eagles threads there have been in the last month or so) but just wondering, is there a reason why you can't click the "Eagles Forum" link at the top of the message board page?

It's kind of weird to say "i know of no other place where eagles fans can converse" when there's a link to an eagles message board about 2 inches away from the button to create a new thread. Here's a link to it if that is too difficult: viewforum.php?f=173

I'm honestly asking. I'm open to either way (definitely not stickying it, if you want it at the top then post in it) but if we have that forum it seems like we would want people to use it. I'd like to hear reasons either way from people.

i can only speak for myself, but it seems like the Realgm "branching out" with NFL/MLB/NHL forums has kind of been a failure with not nearly enough activity.

So I can understand why someone would want an eagles thread on this board where people will actually see it and reply.

The same reason we have an "Around the League" thread while the General Board exists. The GB is for fans of basketball to discuss it. Around the league is for sixers fans to discuss basketball. Eagles forum is for those who post there (5 people at most) to discuss the birds. The threads on here are for sixers fans and a larger audience to discuss the eagles, especially since this experiment to get people to post on the eagles forum has been a massive failure.

Pretty much agree with the last two posts. This is a basketball site. I'm doubting it expands to anything more then a basketball site. Which is fine because its a great site.

Might as well embrace it. You'll get more views thus more revenue with more posts on the forums that people actually look at.

And I'm loving what ive seen from the eagles. They're my 1b behind my beloved bears.

We had an official Eagles thread that was successful on this forum before it got moved to the Eagles forum and everyone just forgot about it. Not asking it to be stickied but I can't see why there would be a problem to have a OT Eagles Discussion thread. Football forums are so dead on this site. I know few of us aren't Eagles fans but most of us are and it's to have something to discuss in midst of another tanking season especially considering that Eagles are playing very well.

RealGM would be better off acquiring another active NFL forum. Keep it separate while gradually assimilating its standards of rules, and finally, changing the name and hosting it underneath the RealGM umbrella. NFL forums are going to be difficult to develop organically within a basketball site for the same reason why this thread was created.

realgm will never have a successful nfl forum, search " (Insert NFL Team Name here) forum" and you will find an active board for every nfl team. Do that for nhl as well. Realgm will never take that over.

Love the Eagles and agree with what everyone has said, I only click on here and when I see an Eagles thread I feel the need to comment, so I hope it sticks. Foles is disappointing this year but We are still 5-1, it will be interesting to see if the FO give him a big contract at the end of the year or if he's just a product of Chip Kelly's system. Malcolm Jenkins has solidified the Defense and made it easier for the Pass Rush to concentrate on just that. Can't wait for Mathews to have a bigger role on offense and for Huff to get some burn too.

Arizona will be a tough matchup next week. They have a stout defense and a good run game.

I think we're going to come out flying this week against Arizona. We are getting a little disrespected. The fact that we haven't looked impressive and are still 5-1 is actually a good thing in our favor. Foles is a great leader and his play will improve. I rather him get all the kinks out now because I'm expecting a deep playoff run.

This should be a good game, hopefully foles comes out ready and the defense forces a plethora of turnovers. We need to keep winning or dallas will win the division at this rate

We have a relatively tough schedule the rest of the way. Our opponents over that stretch (as of after Week 7) have a combined record of 32-28-1, but we face Dallas twice, Seattle, and then Arizona and Green Bay on the road. The Redskins and Giants, no matter how bad they are, will always 'get up' to play us, and those games are on the road as well.

I think at worst we go 5-5, but think 7-3 isn't out of reach and could hopefully be enough to challenge Dallas down the stretch.

A win this Sunday would be HUGE. Arizona's a tough squad and I think we narrowly beat them last year.
