This trade couldn't go down until December and would also require Monroe's co-operation and dependent on a healthy Horford with Atlanta under preforming.

Fields, Hansbrough 2015 1st, 2016 NYKs/Denver 1st. and rights to Daniels to Atlanta + 2.5 million

EDIT!
Toronto does indeed give up substance. So do we, but we would still be lucky for this one. I guess if Monroe's agent and ATL have an understanding or whatever.

Sign me up. I thought Toronto would be the one that would question this but sure.

I will be the only one that hates this trade.
Monroe is worth more than over the hill Amir and career backup Vasquez. I still see Amir becoming a backup again once they find a better alternative.
Would never happen with SVG in charge.

Exactly what is Monroe in Detroit at a moment a back-up who is bad at PF.
Amir is a high IQ player who does everything well the only reason for moving him is Horford.
Monroe would only move since he has a veto to a place he could start at C.
Jennings is only going to be a back-up in Toronto and Vasquez can play starting PG he did at NOs.
It is a great deal for Detroit.

I musta missed my blinders cuz I didn't see Jennings in there. I would probably do this deal.

The Pistons aren't trading Monroe and Jennings for two back-up players.

Monroe doesnt have any trade value and Jennings is a negative so I dont see how you can get anything other than bench players for them.

Re: The Trade Thread - v2
Maybe the Nuggets would be willing to trade one of Gallo or Chandler for a package around Monroe (Doubt Moose would agree to it) but Gallo actually looked pretty good in preseason. We just need a upgrade at SF badly.

Jennings and Smoove
for
ShLarkin and Amare
We take in about $3.25m more for this season unfortunately, but maybe NY throws in cash and/or takes Mitchell, who is likely cut.
Why?
We get 2 useful players to come off the bench or be in the reserves.
We become a cap space team next season. [re-sign Moose (and Singler?) and still have $20m]
Give Larkin a look-see. Even if he doesn't crack the rotation, the price aint bad for 3 more years.
Likely get a better culture going.
Likely to better assess Moose and likely to make him happier.
Likely to better assess line-ups with a stretch-4.
Why?
Jennings > Larkin
Smoove > Amare
NY still has 4 guys who can guard centers after Amare leaves. 5 if Mbenga sticks (doubtful.)

Re: The Trade Thread - v2
The Pistons have 16 guaranteed contracts for only 15 roster spots, and a chunk of cap space left available when Greg Monroe signed a one-year qualifying offer, all of which could make them viable trade partners.
Detroit has made three trades in five years, two of them salary dumps (Ben Gordon in 2012 and Tayshaun Prince in 2013). Only last year's sign-and-trade to acquire Brandon Jennings was a direct effort to upgrade talent for the future.
Bower said the Pistons are "very diligent and very active right now, studying options, studying rosters" for ways to improve via trade, though markets typically are slow until the Oct. 27 deadline for finalizing season-opening rosters draws near.

Also something interesting worth noting from that story linked to above - the GR Drive have the 1st and 5th picks in the D-League draft, so it would be possible to cut Mitchell and if he's not picked up by any NBA team and enters the D-League draft pool we could draft him first overall (or 5th) and keep him in the org, albeit as an unaffiliated player that could be scooped up at any time by another organization on 10-day contracts.

I just don't see it happening either way.
Atlanta or any team won't trade for Monroe unless he agrees to sign a long-term deal. Monroe isn't going to sign a long term deal with the Hawks mid-season when he can wait until free agency and pick his destination after the dust settles.

But why would we want to do that? Mitchell is a athlete, not a basketball player.

^The "D" in NBADL stands for developmental. Turn that athlete into a basketball player for $25K a year rather than $900K a year.

With the injury to Meeks, would a trade for Gerald Green work? Something like Jerebko for Green.
It seems the Suns have more guards than Christopher Walken has love for the cowbell.

I think some on this board would be inclined to do this deal. I feel Stan really likes JJ though. He praised his work ethic and hustle which are hard things to find in the NBA. Not sure. It does fill a need. But, I think the Pistons really need a starting level SF more than anything else. Singler can play SG for now.
EDIT. Change that. I didn't know Green shot 40% from 3 and was 6'8". I definitely do this deal and throw in filler too.

Absolutely. That'd be a fantastic trade for the Pistons. Gerald Green would fit nicely in the 2/3 role for the team. His skill set is also something the team needs.

At this point I've been conditioned not to expect anything from Pistons trade rumors but it's interesting nonetheless.
The Minnesota Timberwolves are shopping forward Chase Budinger in trade talks, league sources told Yahoo Sports.
Among talks with several teams, the Detroit Pistons and Houston Rockets have shown an interest, league sources said.
Houston is reluctant to take on the $5 million player option Budinger’s deal has in 2015-16, as are the Pistons, sources said. Nevertheless, the Pistons are taking a long look at Budinger and considering the possibility of making a deal. No trade is considered imminent for Budinger.

This would be a great trade for Detroit. Green can shoot and defend so I think he'd fit very well for us. SVG likes Jerebko but he's got no clear path to playing time with Smith/Monroe at PF.
This is a really well balanced roster:
Jennings/Augustin/Dinwiddie
KCP/Meeks/Martin
Green/Singler/Butler
Monroe/Smith
Drummond/Monroe
