That hurts. Good thing Caldwell-Pope should be back.

So we'll be Caldwell-Pope starting with Martin his primary (and our only) SG back-up? Cartier starts the next 2-3 games while Pope is out with his knee issue? Stan Van is on record saying Singler is not a two-guard, and is a pure three or 3/4.

Some good news is Dinwiddie went in 5v5 drills today and could even play in the last pre-season game. I guess he'll get some 2-guard minutes as well if healthy.

looks like Dinwiddie might get some burn earlier in the year... he might be able to play in a month or so, until then we'll have a thin backcourt rotation.

meeks being out hurts our perimeter shooting, as he was the one we brought in primarily to do that lol.

Huge blow.... That really hurts our bench. The good news is that KCP will be starting and won't have to look over his shoulder for fear of losing his starting spot. I think we need Monroe off the bench for sure now though because we need a guy who can carry the offense. I don't want Smith trying to carry the offense off the bench.

Dinwiddie is likely playing in a preseason game, if he can shoot the ball like he did in college, he should get minutes at the 2. That possibility is one of the only good things to come from this- KCP likely getting starters minutes is another. I hope Meeks has a speedy recovery but all is not lost.

Where did you here Dinwiddie might play in preseason? I thought he had no timetable for a return?

From MLIVE

Spencer Dinwiddie went full-court 5-on-5 for the first time since his Jan. 20 surgery to repair torn knee ligaments while playing for the University of Colorado, and could be cleared to play in the Oct. 23 preseason finale, Van Gundy said.pencer Dinwiddie went full-court 5-on-5 for the first time since his Jan. 20 surgery to repair torn knee ligaments while playing for the University of Colorado, and could be cleared to play in the Oct. 23 preseason finale, Van Gundy said.

I'd rather see Cartier Martin start at SF then Josh Smith. We need spot up shooting out there and KCP can't be the only guy to provide it.

Nice, I'm excited to see what he brings although I don't expect him to get much playing time after just coming off a major knee injury. I expect Martin and Singler to get the vast majority of minutes both in preseason and regular season until Meeks comes back.

I imagine the rotation will look something like this at the start of the season...

Jennings/DJ
KCP/Martin
Singler/Butler
Smith/Monroe/Jerebko
Dre/Monroe

To me this pretty much seals Monroe off the bench because someone has to score..so Monroe haters rejoice

Monroe has looked all kinds of awesome this pre season, it really has cemented how **** J Smudge really is.

I'm cool with Monroe coming off the bench, I assume he will be finishing games with Drummond.

Dude is playing for his career. If you left ~$54 million on the table, you'd be playing all out too.
