Jazzfan1971 and FloppyMoose's Season Preview - The Grizzlies

Memphis Grizzlies

Projected Record
-----------------------------------

PG - Mike Conley, Beno Udrih, Nick Calathes
SG - Courtney Lee, Tony Allen, Jordan Adams
SF - Tayshaun Prince, Vince Carter, Quincy Poindexter
PF - Zach Randolph, Jon Leur, Jarnell Stokes
C - Marc Gasol, Kosta Koufos, Hassan Whiteside

Trading Block: Not much there. Team seems pretty well set.

Position Battle: I see two. SG and SF. Tony Allen could easily move into the starting role in place of Lee and Vince Carter could move Prince out of his spot. Actually, it might even be a bit more wide open with Adams and/or Poindexter.

Mystery Man: Well, it's not much to talk about, but, I'm curious if Hassan Whiteside can stick on this roster. I was rather high on him coming out of college in 2010, but since then he's only managed to play 19 NBA games. Not much room to play behind Gasol and Koufos, but, maybe he can get some garbage time or maybe it's back to the D-League for him.

Floppymusings: Vince Carter was a good pickup, even if he only ends up healthy for half the games. This team will go where Conley and Gasol take them, which could be to the WCF. Coach Joerger has proven that the Grizzlies can be good without Hollins, and I like seeing Bzdelik doing defense again as an nba coach. This is a team that is just shy of contender status, but that no one will want to play in the playoffs.

Jazzfanramblings: I thought I'd have more to say as we got towards the top of the standings, but, I really don't. Less probably. What does one say about San Antonio or Memphis? These teams don't change much year to year. Models of consistency and familiarity. We all know exactly what Memphis is. They are a very good team that nobody really wants to play, but, not exactly a threat to win a title either. They just lack the star power to get over the hump.

Still, you got to like a team that you can pencil in for 50 wins. The Grizz have made the playoffs the last 4 years straight. And barring injury will be there again this year. One interesting tidbit, the Grizz have NEVER had the best record in their Division. This year we have them one game behind Dallas and tied up with San Antonio. Maybe this is the year they finally break through for a Division title.

I wish them well, I like their physical style of play.

Projected Record - 53/29
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

I just want the Grizz to make the playoffs so the Cavs aren't gift-wrapped another lottery prospect.
On Harden being MVP of this season ( I don't even like Harden much)

Ever.
Absolute spud of a bloke and **** traits as a player, basically tarnish the MVP forever

They'll be good. With Gasol in the line up they were an elite team last year so I think 53 wins is a good estimate.

Prince is getting no burn this year.

It should be Pondexter/Lee starting to get two competent outside threats to space the floor for their inside game. Allen needs to come off the bench.

I know he is a rookie but Jordan Adams looks phenomenal. Totally rebuilt his body.
