Largest difference between height and wingspan?
Which players have the largest difference between height and wingspan?
Visually, I can mention (don't put a lot of faith in listed measures):
wingspan > height: Wade, Rondo, Pippen, Reggie Jackson
wingspan < height: Blake Griffin, Julius Randle
( i ) Do you believe there is a clear link between above average wingspan and shooting ability?
( ii ) You can be a legit post-scorer without elite wingspan? Please, give me examples.

Re: Largest difference between height and wingspan?
LeBron, Pau Gasol, Ricky, Kirilenko, Durant, have huge wingspans too.
Historically, Jordan, LeBron, McHale, Wilt... nearly every elite player has huge wingspan relative to his height.
i) No.
ii) Charles Barkley's was about average for a NBA player of his size iirc.
PS: Yao has a "short" wingspan (7'5" in a 7'6 body iirc)

This place is a cesspool of mindless ineptitude, mental decrepitude, and intellectual lassitude. I refuse to be sucked any deeper into this whirlpool of groupthink sewage. My opinions have been expressed. I'm going to go take a shower.

Even he was 7'7 tall, Manute Bol also had a simply insane wingspan at 8 feet 6 inches.

Rondo was the first person I thought of.
Charles had a ridiculous wingspan. I don't think that's a good example. Blake is good example but has the height and leaping ability.

Well, I think that 'standing reach' is a better measure of player's defensive size than their height. How high you can reach to contest shots while still standing on the ground (and not falling for pump fakes) is absolutely useful.

An 18-year-old Bismack Biyombo measured at 6'8 without shoes and 7'7 wingspan. That's almost an entire foot.
That Caboclo guy that Toronto drafted measured exactly the same if I remember correctly, which is insane for a wing.

Kevin Love and Blake Griffin have T-rex arms, and score pretty well.

Without rounding up/down it's no entire foot (he lacks almost two inches for that), but still very impressive.
Biyombo:
Height without shoes: 6' 8.31''
Height with shoes: 6' 9.5''
Wingspan: 7' 6.16''
Standing Reach: 9' 3.42''
So, he's comparable to Elton Brand, just with even a little more wingspan und thus standing reach.
Height w/o shoes: 6' 8.25''
Height with shoes: 6' 9.5''
Wingspan: 7' 5.5''
Standing Reach: 9' 2''

A couple things Lebron's got a good wingspan but it's nothing historical I believe, it's about 7' but Durant's is a shade under 7'5" for comparison.
Also while Jordan very obviously had huge hands I don't think i've ever seen an actual listing for his wingspan?

I find it very hard to believe that Brand is really that tall...

Then that length would be even more ridiculous.

I thought Barkley has like a 6'11" wingspan; is that only average for someone barely 6'5"?
