Damn, I'm starting to get worried that we will start the trio during the season. This is the first time SVG has used the same frontcourt rotation.

NO no no SVG said before that he just wanted to see the big three play a litle before the season in case he have to use that lineup some together some this season

I have no problem using the big 3 if it works. it worked last game so why not try it again?

also having no SG doesn't help.

I just look at this as more of the experimenting SVG said he was going to do, I have no problem with it.

we'll only use the big 3 lineup against teams with big SF's like lebron and melo. Smith will probably be matched up with tobias harris for a good chunk of the night

The big 3 lineup is just a preseason experiment... it won't happen during the season... i hope

I'd bet the big 3 lineup is more a result of Meeks and KCP being out than anything else. Regular season KCP should be back, and Singler will bump back up to the 3 and Moose to the bench. With both of our SGs out, Dinwiddie still waiting to be cleared, and Bynum gone, there really wasn't another option.

THIS. Everyone needs to read this and comprehend it...This lineup is a product of injuries and the Bynum being gone. SVG has said plenty of times that Smith will play most of his minutes at PF if not all of them.

Actually what SVG has said is that he intends to play the Smith/Monroe/Drummond combo 6-9 minutes each half, whether that continues during the regular season remains TBD.

I'm not even sure why it took for it to be said for people to realize it.

I believe that was our starting lineup for most of the season after KCP was benched. I"m not a fan of the big 3 lineup but it worked good last game so I'll give it another shot. I do not want the big 3 lineup starting in the regular season though, no matter how good they play.

Just so you guys know this game won't be on TV. If there's an in arena stream (which there should be) .. from what I remember, it has sucky angles and if the Magic make a basket it always shows a replay and won't show your possession if its a quick one. Hornets had the same thing and it sucked :(

I hope Datome gets some decent burn tonight. With Singler/Martin at the two-guard, Smith/Butler/Datome should get all the SF minutes, with Smoove of course getting a bulk of the PF minutes as well.

We still have one cut to make - unless Gray is forced to retire, so one of Mitchell or Datome will still need to be cut by us. Or both could be and Detroit could start the season with 14, or like somebody cut from another roster better.
