Biggest concern for the Heat based on the preseason?
I haven't seen every game since I live in NYC and FIOS still didn't turn on my league pass but these two things concern me most.
1) Defense look god awful for the most part
2) Wade is settling way too much. Haven't seen him attack at all in the preseason
Thoughts?

Re: Biggest concern for the Heat based on the preseason?
I'm a lot more optimistic than most on this board, but mine is just the usual concern of post defense and rebounding. Our all-around defense will be a top 5 in the league once everything is settled, and Dwyane will be Dwyane when he's needed. He looks good moving around the court, it really just seems as if he's taking it easy, my only concern with Dwyane would be that he might be content with his career already and is just there cashing a check.

With Wade I sort of agree but the defense is an issue.
Also Wade isn't as good defensively as he used to be. I think Deng should guard the best perimeter player instead of Wade.

Re: Biggest concern for the Heat based on the preseason?
Wade is going to coast in preseason (and probably will in a few reg season games too) but as long as he is healthy, I'm fine with his preseason performances (Klay-Doh did tear his ass up tho).
My concern is rebounding and the fear of our shooters being more cold than hot.

Re: Biggest concern for the Heat based on the preseason?
Rebounding and our defense basically
Our defense is making strides though, for sure. But when we don't make a shot, the other team runs and they make their plays and we can't stop it.
That has gotten us blown out, then we creep up because well... it's preseason. We can't pull that **** in a regular game or else we are in for a LONG season
I'm not worried about Wade. Last 4 years the mantra has been to not take preseason seriously, and it's all about the playoffs. THis year it is more about the regular season to prove ourselves, but preseason still holds nothing to him.
Also McBob has yet to debut so, who knows if he might help with rebounding. He wasn't that great of a rebounder in Charlotte though.

Napier, Napier has to be good. People might not see it but when he's not good, we look pretty bad. If he's bad, i don't trust Rio or Cole to make up for it. Plus rebounding and defense. We also need shooters to hit shots plain and simple.

Rebounds and defense...
Tonight we ran a more traditional lineup with Birch and Jones playing center and pf. Both fighting down low really helped us get rebounds. With our starters we never really gave Bosh another pf like even Bird. Williams is in but really camps the line. I think we will be fine once McBob gets back and Hamilton can play or if we use someone else down low with Bosh.
Defensive concern is how we guard the rim and the three point line but again I think that goes back to playing two bigs and more individual accountability on d

Wade to be honest. Last time Wade wanted to prove everyone wrong you saw it from the start in preseason. Right now Wade is we hope coasting.

The only way this team is going to win is with defense, so that is the biggest concern.

1. Wade's health.
2. Spo - Mainly freezing the Rookies and sticking with headless chicken defense.
3. Bosh and Mcbob as defensive combo. Not sure that will work.

Last time Wade was also shut down in March and then had a summer with Team USA, thus coming into preseason with a great rhythm. He was also younger and not as banged up as now. I don't blame him for taking it easy in preseason, plenty of stars do it. Preseason is about integrating the new pieces and finding a rhythm as a team. If Wade plays the way he does now in the first 10 to 15 regular season games, then I'll be worried.

Regarding Wade, he knows about his own passiveness.

If Napier is not in the rotation on opening night, Spo should be fired that night. He is obviously one of our best offensive reserves along with Ennis & Granger

We can actually have a solid bench this year with Napier, Rio, Granger/Ennis, Williams, & bird

Re: Biggest concern for the Heat based on the preseason?
1) Defense looks slow, old and undersized. Now without LBJ playing 5 position, we are still trying to play small ball and have Bosh as our only big. Spo! We won 1 title with small ball, its time to go back to what has worked in the NBA forever...Playing everyone at they're natural positions.
2) Wade is settling way too much and not playing creator. Wade, Cole, Chalmers need to step up this year on getting this team some easy baskets.
3) PG play....We have no organization and alot of guys who know how t play but no many that makes the game easier for other players.

1) Agreed, but who is that center?
2) Chalmers and Cole aren't about dat life. Wade is the only one capable along with Napier of playing creator and excelling consistently.
3) Napier and Wade are good enough to handle playmaking duties. Chalmers is too clumsy and Cole plays in one speed and isn't refined offensively. They'll both be there for defensive purposes.

Top 5 in the league for defense based on what? I find that highly unlikely.
