51 -33

If the health of the team was 100% to start the year i would have them pegged at 55 wins and the 2 seed

now i think they are the 3 seed

I don't participate in this folly every year, but for some reason I'm compelled to do so this year.
After all, "Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!"

That said, here are my rationales and selections:

I'm tempted to go with 45 wins and 6th in ECS because guys like Ruz & Secret Weapon are there. But then Earth2Ted is there, too, and he usually makes a lot of sense, so I can't go there.

Then I think, hmmm, maybe 48 wins, where I see JRo, Ill, Nate, Kanye, Dandridge & Long Sufferin' --- all very respectable. But there's also Pine, so I feel a pang of doubt. And then I see Millertime, and there's no way I can hold with 48.

What about 43 wins, where I see howridiculous, TGW, and the White Blake Griffin. Plus, the wise and suspended Dat. Can't go wrong there, can I? You can probably feel my trepidation through your monitor.

So I settle exactly, mathematically perfectly on 47 wins, where I see Chaos, jangles, Dark Faze, Fish, Dat (again!), and the one true prophet, Ji. And I know it will be snowing when the Wiz raise the O'Brien Trophy in April.

Put me down for 47 wins and 5th in the ECS.

Not impressed with what I've seen so far in preseason.

Other than Porter, I have not seen anything to be really excited about.

WizTom -- That's my WAG prediction. I'll have a more serious one just before the season starts. It probably won't change much, though. :)

I'm sticking with 47 wins (not 43). Wall takes his play up another notch this year and keeps us afloat while we battle injuries throughout the year. By the end of the year Wall will legitimately be a top 5 PG and top 20ish level player.

Thanks for clarifying, Dat. Unsurprisingly, I agree completely and feel much better about 47 now. And btw, much respect for even going to the Bulls' board. Cojones? Check. Early Elementary Education degree? Prob'ly not.

Nivek, my exposure to Brit lingo leads me to ask, is that your prediction based on the Wizards' Wives And Girlfriends vs. those of the rest of the Eastern Conference? Or the behaviour of your own Wives And Girlfriends? Please pardon my ignorance of a stat named as such.

Looking forward to the snows of April!

Starting slow is somewhat OK so long as they finish strongly. Just glancing at the March/April schedule it does get tougher down the stretch. I see memphis (x2), clips, heat, CHA (thorn in our side), rockets, blazers and cavs. I wouldn't want to see this team walking into the playoffs without much confidence.

I am hoping, that '13 Wall from March and April makes a year long appearance though. And postseason Beal is here to stay (when he comes back).

Me too, especially since he's added the 3-ball since that stretch of play. That's why the injuries right now don't have me panicked. I think Wall will have to step up and be aggressive (along with Porter and hopefully Rice) and we'll be better off for it in the long run.

Last night's Wall reminded me of Wall in that stretch. I wonder if that "version" of him only comes out when we are depleted. He should play that exact same way even if we're at full strength. He is getting to the foul line more per 36 as well this pre season, so at least that is comforting.

I was feeling quite pessimistic what with all the injuries to start the year.

I love the front court depth. That should either keep Nene healthier and/or
alleviate the downside risk to his seemingly inevitable injury(ies).

I was originally thinking 50+. Looks like knowledgeable Wiz BBers are
in the neighborhood of 47. Ironically, I think that was my prediction last
year, that optimism being based in part on the expectation that Wall would
be the PotM guy we saw at the end of the 2012-2013 season. IIRC, the
PPA he put up over a few week period would place him among the
very best players in the league. Maybe I should be gunshy about
this. For right now, 47 seems not overly optimistic given how much
I like OP and feel like he has a very good chance of filling in for
the departed TA. What gives me some pause is Webster who I have
really liked since he arrived here. I wonder where the solid 3 pt
shooting is going to come from while both Beal and Webster are
out. But 47 it is. And edit to add - 4th in the EC

The injury to Beal will have less effect on Washington than many of your fans expect since you do have a good early season schedule.
Chicago is showing cracks already with health issues and a lack of team unity and there rookies are nothing special.
Will still stick to Washington finishing 3rd in the East. Cleveland, Toronto, Washington, Chicago/Charlotte
See a improvement to 48 victories if Beal was healthy from the get go would have been 50.

Still holding out to see the final roster.

Otto shining makes me feel better. But no Beal for a month has to have some effect. At least a couple games.

Is Humphries really a go. If no, that could cost us game one with player suspended.

Vegas O/U is at 50, although it was set before the Beal injury.

I'm sticking with 51. I do think we'll start a little slow but go red hot post New Years when the season really begins.

The team was traded midseason, accounting for the two extra games.
