Why are we playing so few players in the preseason?

When i look around the league i see teams playing 11-14 players while the Pistons continue to only play 9-11? That's a big reason why the preseason record has been solid so far

I believe Stan see's the team is pretty much set and probably judging the way things are going in closed practices, it's clear that there is no need to put others on the floor.

SVG would be looking to build chemistry and combinations with the group he's likely to play early in the season.

No point playing the bottom of the roster...unless they absolutely prove they deserve time and you do that in practice

1. Building chemistry and getting use to Stan's system with the regular rotation players. Remember this is a team that hasn't been coached since 2008.

2. Only 3 players on the roster that need development beyond learning the system. Dre, KCP and Dinwiddidideidiededed the latter of which has been injured.

3. Injuries KCP out, Meeks out, Dinwiddidideidiededed out, Bynum out then traded, Grey out (career possibly over).

4. Bottom third of the roster is trash and has no business playing.

5. Half the games have been really close and Stan wants to see how the main players respond in those situations.

i think SVG is mostly focused on getting the guys that will play during the season their minutes so they can learn his system/correct their bad habits.

no sense in giving thabeet minutes when he's going to be (he's already been) cut.

besides training camp bodies we have four guys that are injured (meeks, KCP, Dinwiddie and gray) which leaves us with 11 players that will be on the roster as it is.

Have we actually had the full roster available for any games? Both our shooting guards are shelved. Our 3rd pg is out. Our 3rd center is out (or just traded for, depending on how you look at it.) The only healthy guys that haven't gotten legitimate looks are Datome and Mitchell.

preseason game 1 and some of 2 we had everyone available and only played 10 guys

Who cares. We need our team to gel, especially with Stan trying out many different lineups.

Nope, Bynum, dinwiddie and gray were all out or game 1.
