Saints Lead-Up
Saints have probably the worst secondary in the league. They still have some weapons on offense and they're playing at home so there is a possibility of a shoot-out. Just need the communication to be good on offense.

Re: Saints Lead-Up
Yeah, Saints defense as a whole is pretty garbage. We should have no trouble moving the ball at all given how much our offense is clicking right now. Brees and that offense @NO is always gonna be a challenge, but they just seem off this year.
That offense isn't putting up the kind of points we're all accustomed to and is turning the ball over a lot. I just don't think they have the weapons that they once had. Sproles was a huge loss, Graham is nicked up, and I don't think they've found an adequate replacement for Lance Moore in the slot.
I think we can really get after Brees with our pass rushers. They don't have a great running game as is, and Pierre Thomas being out is just going to make it easier for us to focus on our strengths, pass D and our secondary. Even a less than 100% Graham scares me though. The last pass catching threat TEs we've faced (Bennett & Olsen) have gone for 100+ yards a piece. If we can contain him, I think that we limit their offense under 20 pts. Stills and Meachem aren't anything special.
Colston is still a threat but House is tailor made to cover receivers like him. Keep two safeties over top and dare them to run the ball.

Re: Saints Lead-Up
Well I am going to the game this weekend. I am actually taking my GF of 6 years to New Orleans on Thursday and proposing
Hopefully the packers can finish off a perfect weekend.
Brees has been turning it over a bunch. He is forcing the ball alot and their receivers are just not as dangerous as before. I think we will keep their receivers in front of us and force them to run. Jimmy Graham is going to go off, we just can't defend TE's.
Rodgers adn the offense Puts up 35 easily. Packers should win in a high scoring game!

Re: Saints Lead-Up
Former Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre likely will delay his ceremonial return to Lambeau Field this fall because of Hall of Fame quarterback Bart Starr's health problems, ESPN reports.
The Packers were crafting plans to have Starr and Favre on the field as honorary captains during the Nov. 9 game against the Chicago Bears, the network's Ed Werder reports.
Starr, 80, is stabilizing after suffering a mild ischemic stroke on Sept. 2 and a hemorrhagic stroke and mild heart attack on Sept. 7, according to his wife.
When asked why he and the Packers wouldn't proceed with Favre making the appearance alone, Favre said, "I'm sure they could, but it was my idea to do it, and now that Bart can't, I just don't think I will," according to ESPN.
Great idea to have Favre and Starr together. I hope Bart recovers enough to do it at some point. Have Rodgers join them and you'll have all 3 Packers Super Bowl winning QB's together for the first (and likely last) time.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Re: Saints Lead-Up
After he broke Brett Favre’s career passing mark of 508 touchdown passes on Sunday night, Peyton Manning of the Broncos mentioned that Aaron Rodgers may one day come along to pass up Manning’s mark.
Tuesday on his radio show Rodgers said he does consider what his own legacy will be.
“I think about how long I can play in this league, definitely,” Rodgers told WAUK-AM (540). “Stats like that are directly tied to two things, consistency and availability. Being able to play a number of years and stay healthy, and playing at a high level. So those two guys threw for over 500 (TDs). There are three over 400. I believe seven over 300. Such whittling down here of guys who have been able to play for a number of years and play at a high level. You start getting in that category of over 300 and you are passing up some big names and you are reaching some incredible names too.”
Rodgers was asked about the plans that were scrapped to have Bart Starr and Brett Favre attend the Nov. 9 game against the Bears at Lambeau Field because Starr recently suffered a stroke and cannot attend.
“I think the key here is Bart and his health,” Rodgers said. “That’s the most important thing. It’s been tough to hear the news about how he is doing. But I think he’s improving and we’re all thinking about him. We’d love to see him up at a game. We’d love to see Brett as well. It’d be great to get those two guys together and to see them and have the three of us together would be a special moment for me. I look forward to that happening. I know Brett’s going to get up here, I’m sure, by the end of the year. They’ll make something happen, but it might not be until it’s a little bit colder.”
Rodgers was asked about attending the Pearl Jam concert Monday night at the BMO Harris Bradley Center, which was attended by attended by handful of Packers players.
“Unbelievable show,” Rodgers said. “It was amazing. I have been a big fan for a long time. I actually saw them in ’09 or ’10 in San Diego with Ben Harper. Those are two of my guitar inspirations there.”
Rodgers said he met Eddie Vedder for the first time before the show on Monday night in Milwaukee. Vedder told Rodgers he does own a Packers stock certificate.
Rodgers said he actually requested the song “Society,” because it was the second song Rodgers learned to play on the guitar. But that song was not on the playlist that night, so Vedder played a track from the “Into the Wild” movie and gave a shoutout to Rodgers.
“I’d seen him perform before and obviously I’m a big fan, but I didn’t feel those pre-meeting nerves that maybe I felt the first time I met Michael Jordan or the President, where a flood of nerves that kind of hits you right before it happens,” Rodgers said. “Eddie was really gracious and gave us a little time. He’s such a talented guy. And he has been doing it for so long. It was just fun to be there. I think everyone who was there — you know, a great concert takes on a religious aspect. You know it’s like a religious experience. It’s like going to church almost. I know that resonates with people who were there or have been to a concert that is that long and that powerful, when it’s a really good performer who puts on an amazing show.”

Congratulations! You picked a great city. And to top it off with a Packers game. Well done sir.
Must do's:
Jacque-Imo's for dinner (Snapper)
Willa Mae's for fried chicken
Frenchman St. for Jazz/Blues (Maison is my personal favorite)
Carrolton/Oak St. for Rock
Enjoy and bring home a W!

I have a newborn so I have an excuse. But I could have made that concert happen last night. Been thinking about it all day. A couple of my friends won't stop texting me about the show. (some "friends") I saw Pearl Jam at Marcus Ampitheater in the late 90's when I was just a kid. Saw them again mid 2000's. To see them another decade later would have been fantastic. And they're never coming back to Milwaukee. Oh well... next lifetime.

Unless she says no.

Or if she reads the board and it's not a surprise anymore.

I hate this way overused term and so do many athletes. Plus, given how good the Saints are at home, they are favored in this game, not Green Bay.
When you look at teams favored by say 7 points or more, fans of the favorite so often call it a trap game and they can't lose in saying so. If the team wins those people feel it should be expected, but if it ends up a loss, they'll say see it was a socalled "trap game" or that the favored team took the other lightly.
History shows that teams favored by a TD or more win those games by a pretty high percentage, but when a loss happens, out comes the calls of that team getting caught in the "trap game" malaise. As if the players didn't bother to practice hard that week, blew off studying film, and just assumed they would win with ease.
Every NFL roster has talented players on it and thus is capable of pulling off an upset, especially if a few odd plays or turnovers go their way. The Rams beating Seattle being a prime example. Upsets happen every week for a wide variety of reasons having nothing to do with it being a socalled "trap game" or other cliches people try using to explain away why an upset happened.
As of this moment, the Saints are favored by 1.5--2 points, mainly because they have typically been good at home and bad on the road. If i had to guess on what happens in this game, i'd say it will be a close 4th quarter game, with the Packers having a slight edge to win. If they do lose though, i won't chalk it up to some trap game cliche or taking New Orleans lightly given the players who will be on the field i'm sure understand very clearly that a Brees lead offense at home can beat any team in the league, regardless that they are currently 2-4.

Re: Saints Lead-Up
Have the Saints been good at home this year? They're 2-0 with an OT win against the horrendous Bucs and a less-than-convincing win over the Vikings.
I don't think they're a hopelessly bad team and we could certainly lose, but I completely do not understand being the underdog in this one. I think it's just because the Saints are getting precariously close to a Season Over scenario. I just don't think that matters that much. They have serious problems.

Yup. This is essentially their Super Bowl. Aaron Rodgers scoffed at the idea that the Saints are "desperate" in week 8. But they really are desperate for a win. I'd probably have the Packers favored by 3 but I can see why vegas has them as dogs.

Yeah, reason #1 why it's laughable to call this a "trap game" is that we have a bye week after this...
If we lose, are people really gonna say that we overlooked the Saints because what.....we were looking ahead of the schedule towards that vaunted bye week squad?

Re: Saints Lead-Up
A few running backs have yet to allow a pressure this year, but none have stayed in to block as much as Eddie Lacy. On 36 pass blocks, Lacy has a perfect Pass Blocking Efficiency of 100% with zero pressures allowed.
Sweet.
