Wow, does CHA mgmt love scoring PGs? I really thought I was going to like Roberts, but so far he's been a shoot first guy who doesn't seem to add anything different than Gary Neal or Jannero Pargo couldn't do. I felt like CHA legitimately traded Sesh because he didn't pass or play defense. Does Roberts?

If we wanted a scoring PG behind Kemba I thought it woulda made more sense to have gotten a proven vet that could feed Kemba some heady knowledge while doing so and not a relative unknown that's already in his late 20s and only been in the league for like 2 years on a losing team. Jameer and MoWill signed for the same or less than this guy and they're former all stars.

If we went shoot first I'd rather have had Sessions back.

From everything I've read, he makes Sessions look like Eric Bledsoe defensively.

Roberts's AST% is 34.1% - he assists on 34.1% of his teammates' field goals when he is on the floor.

His shooting is a real head scratcher - in two seasons with NO he shot 41.7% and 42% from the floor and 38.6% and 36% from three. He currently is shooting 23.1% from the floor and 9% from three ( :nonono: ).

On the plus side, in his two seasons in NO he shot 91% and 94% from the FT line and he is 6-6 from the line for us.

He really needs to improve that shooting percentage. If teams would view him as any sort of outside threat it would make life easier on the second unit.

He really looked to be trying to protect his (I guess career) percentages last night. I think it was Sachmo who basically read my mind last night by saying "Just how open does Roberts want to be?"

I would say I'm optimistic that he'll return closer to his career averages, in which case I think he's a more than suitable backup. However, if he maintains his current production, I think I would just be completely disappointed.

his shooting is not what concerns me. clearly he has been a good shooter in his career and he will eventually start making shots. the concerns are all the other parts of his game. he has been really bad defensively so far. he cant stay in front of his man and isnt strong enough to push people around. he has trouble beating his defenders off the dribble. he's just not as quick as i expected and he really lacks strength to do much. he is ideally a 3rd pg. definitely not good enough as a 2nd pg. even once he starts making some shots, he'll still be a liability defensively.

only pluses so far are low turnovers and great ft shooting.

Dec 15th, I'd call and see if . . .

DAL would part with Devin Harris

or

MIN with Mo Williams,

both of whom seem surplus to requirements at their respective teams.

Roberts is a disappointment.

I'm more than ok with Roberts at this point.

I mostly agree with this. He's gotten torched on defense in a few matchups, and at the beginning of the season he looked completely useless, but the last few games he's really found the range. If he can hit his jump shots consistently he'll be just fine.

The last two games Roberts has also seemed extremly more agressive on the offence end. Hes driveing more and makeing quicker decisions.

Don't let LP see this, but I am not far from being interested in bringing Kemba off the bench just to see what would happen.

One of Kemba/Lance needs to come off the bench, that much is clear. I'd vote for Lance, but either would be preferable to what we're doing now imo.

Roberts should be a 3rd string PG.
Yeah he's 29 but its only the 3rd yr in the league. He has promise to get better, but the Hornets were looking to win this year. It takes a mature PG to know how to win in this league. If they wanted to win they should have brought in a Jameer Nelson (now leading DAL for the exact 2.7M/2yr contract) type.
GS announcers said CHA offered Livingston more money but he chose GS over CHA. I hated to hear that, because you get our GM going after the right guys in Livingston and McRoberts but they chose teams they think are better, and that's not good. How do we get the right guys to come here?
Meanwhile we have a 3rd string PG backing up Kemba. Kemba needs more help than Roberts provides.

Lol. Just saw this.
