Which of Niko /Doug impacts more 2014/15? (Option added)

Post#1 » by Eduardo » Wed Oct 22, 2014 2:27 am

In your opinion, will Nikola or Dougie have a bigger impact this season? Doug McDermott was thought to be more NBA ready coming into the league. During preseason, he has looked overmatched against NBA caliber SF's. He has trouble getting shots off and can't really go iso. His handles are average. His shot is money, but it hasn't been falling as of late. That does not have me worried. Right now, it looks like he can be Kyle Korver-lite this season. I don't get why people get up in arms at this comparison, because it isn't a bad one.

Nikola has more physical tools than McDermott does. He is quick for his size, can shoot well, can pass well, and can put the ball on the floor. The limiting factor for him is play time. McDermott will most likely get more playtime than Nikola, given the depth we have down low. He has looked very solid the past few preseason games. He looks much more NBA ready than I expected.

Which of these rookies has a bigger impact this year? I think Nikola will end up having a bigger impact and become the better player. Once one of our bigs goes down for a period of time, Nikola will shine.

I'd go with the one on the left, because of its amazing "churning power".

I don't know, why don't you wait until every single time either of them has an above average game to start GB threads about them that get locked?

Both are going to go through their respective struggles as rookies, but even though Ray is experienced in his own right having been in college for several years, Nikola has the significant edge in terms of playing against much better competition in a league among men and even in the preseason it's showing.

I give the edge to Nikola, at least in year one and then who knows what will happen after they get a season under their belts.
Why so serious?

I can't begin to express how (Please Use More Appropriate Word) " The Drain Duo " moniker is

It seriously hurts my head

 That Ray nickname makes me laugh every time. Brooks acting like he didn't know who Doug McDermott was. Brooks man, Dougie McBuckets is more well known than you have ever been.

I already coined The Drain Train. This is reserved for the addition of Tony Snell, IF he can prove to be a decent NBA player and 3 point threat.

drain duo.
these guys have very little connection to each other except that they both sit on the bench. It may be unprecedented that a pair of bench warmers get a moniker. Heck it was unprecedented that the bulls bench had their own popular moniker, the bench mob.

why not come up with with a moniker for brooks and hinrich. its just as arbitrary. Plus neither of these guys had nba success or the same kind of success in da same league , at any level.
Like say both these guys were in college draining stuff, i could see it but their only similarities are the ability to shoot the 3 and none of us know how good they will be at it. Its a possibility that these guys can shoot 33% which is why i think guys cant get on board.

They are each outstanding in their own ways, but McDermott will get more playing time so he will have a bigger impact this season. Also I am not sure that Mirotic's physicality has been tested yet in the preseason. I am a little concerned that because of his light frame he could get pushed around by stronger power forwards when the intensity goes up during the regular season.

Mirotic may be the better player so it would be a mistake for him not get minutes. Postions aside , the bulls may have to squeeze him into a lineup cuz mirotic has been impressive and looking more comfortable every game.

Technically, none of them have been established as decent NBA shooters, so lets stop using Drain Duo.

I think Doug makes more of an impact this year just due to more minutes.

I said something about the drain duo to a friend the other day. Then I realized real life isn't realgm.

Anyway, I think Doug will have a bigger impact simply because he has more of an opportunity to contribute. I think Niko will be more impactful longterm.

I could have sworn that in another thread a mod stepped in and told you to quit trying to force this nickname down people's throats.
