Steve Nash out for the year

Post#1 » by phrazbit » Fri Oct 24, 2014 1:02 am

His back is toast.

Sad end to a hall of fame career and one of my favorite players of all time. Amazing how he completely fell apart as soon as he left town. I will choose to pretend he was a mole, sent as a double agent to destroy the Lakers from within.

Thanks for several years of the most exciting basketball any fans have ever seen... and thank you for whatever we get from these Laker picks.

There are a lot of negative feelings about Nash on RealGM. A lot of that is underserved. In fact, the hate stemming from him not being able to play translated in to many people saying that he's lazy and greedy. There's no doubt in my mind he worked as much as he could and did everything else in his power to be in shape for the Lakers.

He was my favourite player during his Suns years and is pretty much the reason why I became a fan. It's been a joy to watch him play.

He broke his leg on a fluke play and from there it combined with his career long back issues to jack up his nerves. Anyone who thinks he is lazy does not have a grasp on what this guy has been going through for over a decade just to get on the court.

I get Laker fans being frustrated that they paid a premium in salary and picks for a guy who didn't pan out, but thats the risk you take when you acquire a 37 year old with severe back problems. Unless he retired early that back was going to catch up with him eventually... and it sure caught up with him.

So do we sign him to a 10-day contract at the end of the season?

Sure that leg injury was a freak thing but isn't it interesting that since he left the Suns, his back condition has worsened. You could blame that on age etc but I'd rather believe that our training staff really are miracle workers.

Also if this is the end of Nash's career then I agree...sad way to bow out. My fave Sun ever.

That would be a really classy move by the suns but I think a move to the FO would be better. Maybe as a someone in player development.

Also impossible unless the Lakers buy him out. He's still under contract regardless of if he's playing for the Lakers.

And we sure as hell won't be trading for him

JTrain did say "at the END of the season" so no compensation needed.

I hate that he went to the Lakers. So wrong.

Still, he is my favourite player ever (besides MJ I guess) and was part of my best Suns memories. Just a different unique player on and off the court. He's gonna be missed so much.

Damn! This is so sad to hear. He's my favorite player of all time along side M.J. I just really hope he recovers from this injury and play for one more season and sign off in style. ALL THE BEST STEVE NASH!!!

What a loss for basketball. Favorite player ever. One of the best to ever do it.

Him and Raja Bell were two of the biggest reasons I became a Suns fan.

My favourite player all time. Really hurt to seem him bail to LA but I understand he was on a top secret mission to destroy the Lakers from the inside.

Sad end for Steve, I'm sure hes upset with how his career ended after a great run in phoenix. Still, him getting us two Lakers picks while simultaneously locking up a large portion of their cap should make us all applaud him.

This is unfortunate. With how much Nash loves the game, I'm sure he wanted to get some more basketball in before calling it a wrap.

Also one of my favorite all-time players for sure.

The General Board thread about this makes me sad. So much undeserved hate for one of the greatest players ever.

No point in reading it for me.
