There's a difference between an established vet who is solid on both ends of the floor for a great team, and a garbage "potential" guy who had proven nothing in the league after nearly 4 seasons on an average-at-best team.
There's no sugarcoating it- Tyrus Thomas even at his best, was never better than Taj Gibson, even at his worst. Thomas dazzled people a few times a season with a monster blocking exhibition here and there but he never even came close to putting it together.
