Maybe in 12 years, CP3 will get a ring this way too!

Deron was great vs SA, 26/4/8, and they lost in 5. So the series he actually plays well they lose because they play a very good team. The difference for Paul is that he faced that level of team in the 1st or 2nd round, not the WCF.
Those are great points you make that show how meaningless these sorts of statements can be. Even my off the cuff statement was. I sort of meant it seriously, because in quickly looking at the team we should be good enough to get past the second round at least ONE time in the near future. But who knows what will actually happen, and more importantly WHY it will happen. Maybe CP3 plays at a super-human level and they lose in the 2nd round every year, maybe CP3 plays mediocre and they make it to the WCF or beyond.
The most important thing for Clipper fans' perspective is that most of us believe that the team is good enough for WCF and possibly beyond. All the stuff about where any of our players ultimately rank can be interesting to debate but is far less important.

Does anyone here think CP could win an MVP title? maybe I am dreaming too much.

I definitely wouldn't call him overrated. A player of his caliber does need greater postseason success to feel complete though.
Success in this league (or any league for that matter) hinges on a combination of circumstances working together in your favor. Some players have it easy and some have a tougher road to travel. The easiest thing to pinpoint is timing. Timing in regards to your health, coaching, front office competence, quality of teammates, advantages over the competition, etc. It all plays its part.
In 2012, Blake and Paul had nagging injuries entering into the 2nd round. In 2013, Blake's dealing with the high ankle sprain and can barely finish out the first round. 2014, Victor Stiviano drops a bomb and that affected the entire organization's psyche. That definitely wasn't the best timing. That wasn't the ultimate factor in getting knocked out in the second round, but that burden certainly didn't help.
Paul has had to deal with ownership issues in the past that affected the quality of his teams. In New Orleans that meant that there was a limit on spending that didn't enable them to maximize their efforts. Here, it hasn't been much of an issue until it reared its ugly head 6 months ago. Thankfully, it seems that won't be a hindrance in the future. While the team could still stand to improve in areas, it is far from a slouch. Aside from a team like the Spurs, every team has some kind of weakness or vulnerabilities. He's no longer in peak physical condition, but his understanding of the game is at its highest. Barring a serious injury, his health is sufficient for the time being.
He's aware of his own personal window of being a key contributor to winning a championship. He has a good team around him. He has a championship caliber coach and an owner that can and will spend what is necessary. You can look around at some of the other contending teams and highlight different issues that they're dealing with or what could be problematic for them. The timing is ripe. He and the team just have to stay healthy and seize the moment.

In 2007-2008. RIght now it is possible, but him and Blake are pretty much equal impact players, so if the Clippers have the best record in the league, who do you choose? Maybe Paul gets the nod because of the whole "well he is older and Blake can win it later" kind of thinking, but they are both extremely valuable to this team.LACtdom wrote:Does anyone here think CP could win an MVP title? maybe I am dreaming too much.

I can't see it.
Blake's going to be doing a lot of the scoring and his overall emergence is going to dominate any thought of CP putting up 18-10 being enough for an MVP.
plus CP gets injured once a year.
but i'll still say there IS a possibility....and it all depends on us getting the #1 seed in the west....which i feel is completely feasible.
