I wish it were broadcast somewhere (and not on some crazy euro or scoreboard stream) because it's more likely than not that we won't see a lot of him for the next couple of months.

he should be the backup SG with meeks out for a while. I wouldn't be surprised if he got ~20 minutes a night until meeks comes back.

Perhaps. I think the Pistons are more likely to use Martin and Singler back there with KCP.

But, if those guys can't hack that position, they'll give some thought to playing the rookie there. The problem is that he's so brand spanking new. Asking him to play out of position with no training camp and few reps after sitting out of competitive BB for so long and just getting acclimated to the NBA.... it doesn't seem like a high probability that that will work out well right now.

I'd imagine SVG is just playing it safe at the moment, keeping out starters who aren't 100% ready to go so that we don't risk injury. There's really no compelling reason not to, given our PG depth.

I also don't think this effects Dinwiddie that much, as his minutes are going to be limited for his own protection at first. It just may give him a chance to run with a different unit and get some burn at both guard slots (as you said).

I laughed aloud when I saw him say that he has stop trash talking his teammates during scrimmage. Tonight may give us a little insight into his learning curve. Not much though. Will be good just to see if he appears just to belong in the NBA.

I wonder actually if Tony Mitchell will get some time. I expect that is who the Pistons are about to cut.

If Dinwiddie had led Colorado to the final 4 while putting up similar statistics to what he was averaging pre-injury... He would have been a top 10 pick.

Not your usual 2nd round pick...

Can't wait to see his first action tonight!

Spen Widdie wit the keys to the City!

This exciting news for sure. But it isn't exciting because he's the answer to all our woes. I like the guy as a developmental player for the future. SVG is high on him which makes me high on him. I like his poise, he seems to be a pretty intelligent and mature.

Reports out of camp suggests he's a very confident kid. Clips from workouts and past games suggests he's a high skilled player. I'm anxious to see how soon that translates at the NBA level.

Can't wait til he's a star and mark Jackson calls the game.

Go in side kids. Mama called. Dinwiddie!

Dinwiddie getting everyone excited vs Philadelphia

Yeah it's just the Sixers but dude hasn't played in forever!

Potentially we've got 5 guards for this coming season - Jennings will be under pressure to perform and if he does we might have to play KCP at SF just to spread the minutes.

Dre 33, Monroe 15
Monroe 18, Smith 30
Butler 10, Singler 18, KCP 20
KCP 10, Meeks 24, Dinwiddie 14
Jennings 28, DJ 20

10 Man rotation

Dinwiddie/Caldwell-Pope back court next year could be potent if they progress. Just find that SF somehow.

C - Drummond
PF - Monroe
SF - 3/D/Athlete/Young
PG - Dinwiddie
SG - Caldwell-Pope

Obviously the guards have a loooong way to come and a lot to prove... but I love the potential there! Hope this is how things work out.

Nice to see the kid didn't look overwhelmed at all!

Remember how fast KCP was trying to play at the beginning of the season last year? That's kind of what I expected from a nervous Dinwiddie, but he really didn't look much like that at all.

Very promising.

Dude was smooth with a great feel for the game in the little sample size I was able to see.

Really liked Dinwiddie's first efforts last night. He has solid court vision and he can shoot. If we were a rebuilding team, Id wan't him to start because a Dinwiddie/KCP/Monroe/Drummond core would be a fun team to watch, it'd be a SF away from being decent.

I hope Dinwiddie gets to contribute this season and that he plays well. There is an opening for playing time for him and I hope he capitalizes on it.

Hey, this is a happiness thread for Dinwiddie, not Quincy Miller fantasies.

I'm glad Dinwiddie looked great in the first half, because that was the only salvageable item from last night. Flush the rest down the toilet of preseason nothingness.

At least I hope it was just preseason indifference.

Cartier Martin, Caron Butler, and Kyle Singler all shot well from the floor. That was another big plus in the game. Add to that the play of Augustin.
