He was my favourite player during his Suns years and is pretty much the reason why I became a fan. It's been a joy to watch him play.

Yeah, I didn't see this thread before I posted a comment on the news feed. It came across all "high and mighty", and it wasn't what I was trying to get across, but there should be a way for teams/players to resolve situations like this. As much as I don't like the Lakers, I do feel a little bad that they are stuck paying $9M to a player that is done...it's not as if he's coming back next year to make up a little of that pay...

But agree, no need for negative feelings toward Nash. I highly doubt he's trying to take advantage of the Lakers. And from a guy that deals with back pain regularly, and have also had several epidurals, RF Ablation, and Facet Joint injections over the past couple of years to deal with back pain, it really is quite debilitating, and it really stinks to injure it doing stupid mundane things like picking up bags, or in my case, aggravating it while taking out the trash. It really is frustrating.

A sad end for one of the true greats. Nash became my favorite player during those SSOL years. I'll never forget those teams. I imagine I'll never really get over not winning the championship one of those years. Just a number of unfortunate events.

I hope to see Nash back with the organization in some capacity one day.

It doesn't bother me either way, he isn't a Sun anymore. With that said, while he was a Sun, he was probably one of my favorite players.

Both Nash and Hill were incredible players and people for us, and I wish the best for Nash once he stops wearing a Laker uni.

As for having him join our staff,I would be all for it, and if we could grab Hill as well, I think I would be even happier.

I still remember tearing up at this game. One of my friends who's a PHX native was crying and balling her eyes out

I know you should never say never but I don't think the Suns will ever get a PG better than Nash again. Will be hard pressed to find someone who comes even close to his level.

Before everyone gets sad that he ended his career this way keep in mind that he could have retired and avoided all this but instead chose to play into his 40s while falling apart.

Nobody beats Father Time. Kobe beware I think he's gonna be knocking on your door soon! :)

As a Laker fan, what sums it all for me is disappointment. Very tragic that Nash's time in LA got derail very early on the injury caused with Damian Lillard.

All I know is that Nash tried very hard to get on the court. He didn't want to quit and the organization didn't take any advantage they had to convince him to for ethical reasons.

I'm not bitter about the trade. Just simply disappointed how it ended for Nash.

When the time comes, I hope the Suns will retire his jersey and Nash will have his day when he gets into the Basketball Hall of Fame. That's how we all should remember it.

I forgot about John Stockton. That guy was tough as nails for sure. I'm sure it helps your longevity when anyone who fouls you ends up getting a Karl Malone elbow shortly after!

Also impossible unless the Lakers buy him out. He's still under contract regardless of if he's playing for the Lakers.

And we sure as hell won't be trading for him

JTrain did say "at the END of the season" so no compensation needed.

What? Sign him to a 10 day contract after the season? Ya not possible. Justify it all you want, it's not possible nor is it going to happen unless the Lakers buy him out.

Why would you feel bad for the Lakers? They signed a 38 year old PG with a chronic back issue to a 3 year deal. If this is a problem the the Owners/GMs should get together and slap each for making such idiotic decisions.

You're right, I shouldn't feel bad for the Lakers. And yes, I like your proposed resolution to their current problem...that was indeed funny!

But as I mentioned elsewhere regarding this, I guess I feel "a little" bad for the fans, more so than the actual Laker organization. We know better then most, how unenjoyable it is to suffer at the hands of our Suns' FO stupid decisions. It's nice to know that those days are likely gone, now that we have McD at the helm.

“His run in Phoenix was unbelievable, man,” said LeBron James. “The way he played the game of basketball, I wish I could have been a teammate of his for a year or two. Being around a guy like that who is just all about team. He never asked for anything and everything was given to him. You can respect somebody like that.”

“It’s tough,” James said when Northeast Ohio Media Group asked for his thoughts on Nash. “You hate to see anyone have the game taken away because of an injury and especially a talent like that. Obviously he’s worked his tail off to try to be healthy and play for the franchise. Over his career, he’s always kept his body in shape. We all knew that, and for his body to fail him at a time where he feels he still has something to give to the game, it sucks.

“At the same time, he has nothing to be ashamed of. He should be proud of every moment he had in this league. From him waiting behind, sitting on the bench behind J-Kidd [in Dallas] to finally getting his opportunity in Dallas and going back to Phoenix and having an unbelievable career with two MVPs and doing the things that he did.”

Damn LeBron you shoulda said something sooner, we could have put together something for you back during playoff years :D
