He looks good moving around the court, it really just seems as if he's taking it easy, my only concern with Dwyane would be that he might be content with his career already and is just there cashing a check.

Top 5 in the league for defense based on what? I find that highly unlikely.

What made the Heat the a top 5 defense in '10?

Starting lineup- wise

Cole
Wade
Deng
Mcbob
Bosh

are all potent defenders( with McBob being the only uncertainty). Wouldn't call it unlikely.

We actually should be better defensively than last year. We were horrible last year, largely because the team was so old, and Wade was in and out of the lineup--plus Lebron was a bad defender last year because he stopped trying defensively in the regular season, so we had a whole slew of bad habits.

But Cole as a starter is a defensive upgrade on Chalmers. Deng is an upgrade on Lebron from last year(not the year before obviously), McBob just by virtue of his height probably is more useful for us than Battier or Lewis were at the 4 defensively. And then Wade and Bosh are probably the same. Maybe Bosh will be worse defensively this season because he will have more of a load offensively?

Spo is a proven defensive coach though, I'm sure we'll be a top defensive team and build our identity through our defense. You don't sign someone like Luol Deng not to play defense.

We have great defenders in Bosh, Deng, Chalmers, Cole, even Wade when he actually decides to play defense. The potential is there and our franchise is known for it's defense, I don't think it's a stretch at all. Right now, I find it somewhat difficult to come up with 5 teams better defensively than the Heat.

I think we'll probably be Top 10. Chicago, Memphis, San Antonio, New Orleans (huge jump with Davis improving + Asik), Oklahoma City, Charlotte, and Golden State will likely be better.

Thoughts?

Nice to know a fellow Heat fan in NY. Last time I came across another was like '05, before the first chip

kind of a concern for this season but dates back to prior years. Bosh is looking like a beast out there now. Why does it take Lebron leaving for us to start using Bosh properly. The concern is that we never maximize the capabilities of our team and try too much to cater to featuring our stars instead of maximizing all of our options. This isnt a new Bosh, he didnt learn anything new. He just has more freedom now to play his original game. Bosh is a weapon yet we made him look like a scrub my concern is that we have more options on this team but will make them look like scrubs to "fit" instead of trying to incorporate.

My biggest concern is rebounding, ball handling (turnovers), too much reliance on three point shooting. All of this allows opposing teams to get easy point in transition.

Don't care how this season goes as long as the heat knock the cavs out in the playoffs

Lack of rebounding/rim protection. Same concerns from last season. We don't have anyone to defend the big bodies down low. We don't have big guys that can box out and grab boards and prevent OREB for the opposing teams.

My concern is just a minor one, but I just hope McBob meshes in well with Wade/Deng/Bosh. Too bad he had to miss pre-season......there will still be some adjusting for sure

Interior defense and rebounding. I think our perimeter defense will be good though.
