Cowboys and Lakers

Post#1 » by ALL HAIL » Fri Oct 24, 2014 5:06 pm

Popular opinion has always been strange.

On the one hand, there is a very popular opinion that our public school system is failing us:

I agree.

On the other, much larger hand (probably from jacking-off), there are these tremendous popular opinions that are completely emotional, peer-driven, and unthoughtout.

During the start of football season, of which I do not fancy myself half the "expert" as I do in basketball, I read and listened to a great deal of season previews, and all the writers, talking heads, and air personalities were in perfect unison as they unanimously and matter-of-factly proclaimed the Dallas Cowboys to be a hot stinkin' mess.

Everywhere your eyes and ears traveled you were literally bombarded with the same "pop song" of the Cowboys being poorly constructed and having absolutely no chance of success.

Now popular opinion is one thing, but unanimous popular opinion is something else entirely ...
... they were all unapologetically wrong.

The Cowboys and Lakers find themselves walking an identical path of unanimous popular opinion.

I find it all quite comical, really.

I wonder if the world will "kick themselves" after the Lakers' successful year?

... Damn fools!

Just had to get that off my chest. Return to your lives.

Except it's far harder to predict how good a football team will be than a basketball one.

I'll say this... the Cowboys have significantly more talent on their roster as a whole than the Lakers do in comparison to the rest of their respective leagues.

A successful year for us will likely be 35 wins.

You don't watch very much Cowboys football do you? Romo will end up choking it up when the game is an important one.

Trust me I live 5 min. away from AT&T stadium in Arlington, been hearing all this noise from Cowboys fans all season. Usually the noise is every season for me and once Romo or the defense screws up it's all crickets.

Lakers are rebuilding, Cowboys are supposedly built to "contend".

I'm a Packers fan since diapers and I hate the Cowboys, but bias aside, I really think their record is a fluke. I mean look at their schedule it's mainly teams under .500.

Not everyone is lucky enough to have the best QB in the NFL like a certain team you root for.

Haha Rodgers wasn't always like that you know. He had to sit a couple of season because of Favre. I'm just glad Ted Thompson did his homework on the guy. You really can't blame me for being excited fan during the Rodgers era, I wasn't really happy when Troy Aikman, Emmitt Smith, and Michael Irvin ruled the NFL.

No it's not, and football as a sport was my first love. It's way easier to predict how well you can do in football. You start by evaluation of the QB and the LB's on defense.

As ALL HAIL presented about the Cowboys, the overall perception was that they were weaker on defense and had no pass rush. But out of nowhere their LB's have surprised.

In basketball the predictions can go either way, teams like Portland, Phoenix and Washington showed huge improvement from the previous season last year. Nobody saw it coming, it starts with buying in to what a coach is telling you.

Orlando McLain has been good but they still lack pass rush. Their D overall is still bad but they are getting away with it because they are controlling the ball with that incredible online and a very good RB in Demarco Murray.
