Anyone concerned about Love's shooting?
In his last 3 preseason games, Kevin Love has shot .280 overall (7 - 25) and .000 from behind the arc (0 - 8). Anyone concerned?
I hope we aren't seeing a repeat of the same old tired story where the Cavs bring in a hired gun who suddenly loses his shooting eye once he hits the shores of Lake Erie. Hopefully it's just the stiff neck!
Think Damon Jones, Donyell Marshall and Larry Hughes. None of the three came close to the shooting percentages they had before signing here.

Re: Anyone concerned about Love's shooting?
To be honest, I have been very underwhelmed by love the whole offseason even during his 20+pt games. He is a streaky shooter that shoots a stand still jumper. He cannot really create off the dribble. He has absolutely no athleticism and cannot defend. His rebounding numbers from previous seasons were inflated and he surely won't put up those numbers on this team. I really wish we had kept Wiggins. I think it will become evident within the next few years that it was a huge mistake to offer one of the most hyped #1 picks in the last 10 years for a star who was leaving anyway. I still can't understand why the Cavs couldn't wait until next offseason to sign Love if they were determined to have him.

I agree with fart boy, I'm not too impressed with the way Love has been playing on offensive sets. Part of me hopes Blatt is just holding his cards behind his back for preseason. Loves perceived scoring threat should open spacing up for part of the season, but if he doesn't starting putting up strong numbers Id be concerned.
Yes its preseason with a brand new roster and it will take time. But Loves integration so far hasnt been seamless.

He's saying now that he needs more touches in the offense - could be a case of him usually having more shots and getting into a rhythm. He shot an average of 18 times a game with Minnesota, now he's shooting basically nine times - half as many shots as he's used to.
Just something he's going to have to get used to as James, Irving will get theirs and Waiters will want his as well. Everybody will have to make sacrifices, but will Love make such a drastic one?

I'm comfortable the guy will shoot, my concern is that he just seems completley out of place. It doesn't appear like they know how to get him involved.

No. The guy is a great shooter. He's a much better shooter and all around player than any of the guys you mention in the original post. They were all old, couldn't shoot (Hughes), or way overrated (Hughes and Marshall) anyway by the time they got to the Cavaliers. Kevin Love is a fantastic shooter and all around big who is only 26. This whole thing is going to be a work in progress for a while. Sit tight, relax and watch it unfold before your eyes. Love is going to be himself once he finds a comfort zone. This I do not worry about one bit.

too eaarly to worry...
Guy is a proven shooter, passer and rebounder. Just need to get the chemistry and schemes adjusted and I think everything's going to be ok.
No worries dudes

When he shot 18 times a game, did he usually miss the first 9 shots?

It doesn't seem like any of you are watching the same games I have. Love has looked perfectly fine within the confines of Blatt's system. He is still trying to get the system down and learning to perform with his new teammates.
I am, in no way at all, concerned about Kevin Love.

Not at all, he's a top 6 player for a reason. He's just got to get use to the role and so do our guards. We need to feed him more down low he's automatic. It'll come together he's the perfect compliment to lebron

Trade him. I heard the Wolves have a guy or two that would fit better.

Re: Anyone concerned about Love's shooting?
I wanted them to keep Wiggins and Bennett atleast a year to try them out. But no, Kevin Love is a great shooter and he will be dominant. His defense is not that bad and he pulls down offensive boards.
I think Kyrie is more of a problem. He's a liablity defensively, I hope he sorts it out this year. What's the point of making running teardrops while falling backwards if your direct opponent can just get by you with an easy lay in.

Kyrie said that he feels the Team USA experience helped his defensive play considerably. I haven't seen it yet, although three preseason games is not enough to fully evaluate. He was terrible defensively against Rose. I wonder if perhaps he wasn't going all-out defensively due to favoring the still-healing ankle sprain.

Re: Anyone concerned about Love's shooting?
i'm telling ya'll now,,,,,
irving CANNOT take more shots than kluv. take a look at the template for all the ring teams in the past,,,the pg must distribute. ring teams don't need a ball dominant pg. irving has both lebron and kluv to throw to. pre-lebron, irving was the man and kluv was the man, but with lebron IT'S IRVING who has to adjust more than kluv.
and if the coach is putting kluv at the perimeter, that is a huge waste of the best rebounder in basketball. kluv has to be put in a position to be a 20/16 player. if he doesn't get those numbers, cleve will not have a chance to win a ring. i mean, whats' the point of putting kluv at the arc when irving is going to pump more shots than kluv - that is a DOUBLE WASTE,, a waste of kluv's scoring and a waste of kluv's rebounding.

and btw,,irving will have miller, waiters, and probably allen too, so he had better get used to passing.

It's preseason and I doubt Waiters is going to get as much shots he has been getting. Things will get better.

Re: Anyone concerned about Love's shooting?
They should have the easiest offense in the world, there's no reason why they should ever shoot below 42% on offense. They have LeBron who can make that happen with assists or his own high shooting %.
Defense is everything here. They must be able to stop players. I do hope Irving has improved on that end, he is only 22 or something.

How in the hell did he put up inflated rebounding numbers? Minnesota had good rebounders last season. Better than Cleveland this year I'd wager.

That would be a stupid wager.
