I don't know how the Lakers will do but I do like the athleticism of Julius Randle, Jordan Clarkson, Jabari Brown, and Ed Davis. Jordan Hill is another good athlete. I like Jeremy Lin to have a bounce back season. LAL will play better defense for Byron Scott.

A move that seems unthinkable but what I could see happen is Kobe going in a trade to New York.

Not a "move" but LA loses another player - Julius Randle out with a broken leg. Last night against Houston they basically looked like the 76ers, but with Kobe. And now they lose their only real prospect to injury.

This swan song is going to be ugly for Kobe. :nonono:

Freak injury. Though, there were rumors he had a foot injury before the draft. He didn't get surgery.

Don't think its connected but you never know.

Man, and it was in his first professional game too.

Yeah, Jeremy Lin still doesn't get half the respect he should. He actually had a good year last season - just lower usage because he had uber-high usage teammates. If he can get his turnovers down, it wouldn't surprise me if he has a borderline all-star caliber year. The Lakers aren't a terrible team.
Edit - Get Lin on your fantasy team. Every year, I get Tony Parker, and every year, he's a bargain. Lin is the new Tony Parker type bargain.

That still remains to be seen IMO. Even when Swaggy P is healthy, I'm not seeing how they're going to score enough points. They just feel like the Kobe-led team that missed the playoffs the first year after Shaq left. Let's see how it plays out.

I hear ya, but I think the aforementioned Lin is going to finally get a chance to show his scoring skills over a full season - and do a lot better than he did in game 1 yesterday. And Boozer adds another scorer for them. Granted, I'm just saying they won't be terrible - not that they're going to be good.

Ruz, I have less faith in Lin/Boozer, but we're essentially saying the same thing. Kobe will keep them in a lot of games, and if a couple of guys can step up they can be respectable. I don't think they're in play for even the 8th seed, though.

Burks got paid...I gotta think Ted should just put a 4 y/$50 mil on the table and see if Beal bites.

If that is the market for Burks Beal easily commands near Max. He absolutely doesn't deserve it but someone would give it to him in RFA.

I think you guys are vastly underrating Burks and/or vastly overrating Beal. Burks had a 64% TS% last season. He scores 14 points per 11 shots, while Beal scores 11 points per 11 shots. That's not the end all and be all, but it's a dramatic difference at the shooting guard position. If Burks is used as a primary scorer, he probably will be recognized as an outstanding player.

Little of both. I think don't think Beal is a max player, he has a market. I'd just slightly increase the offer a bit tho.

Yep, Raf said it a bit better. Beal still has something to prove when it comes to being a max player, but the numbers are going to be high when it comes to extending him.

I'd much rather have Alec Burks at 4/42 than Klay Thompson at 4/70.

So at this point Beal's floor is probably $50 million and his ceiling is $70 million. $60 million is reasonable, and can be increased depending on his health and productivity.

Though Prada on Twitter suggested they may need to get Beal to RFA to sign Durant. How does that work?

I don't dislike Burks Ruz, I actually think he is a good player, as good as Beal right now, but the market has a perception of Beal as this budding young star when in actuality he is rather meh. I would love for Beal to show us he DESERVES max consideration this season, or at least consistent play like we saw in the playoffs.

I also agree, I'd take Burks at this contract over Klay, who is also grotesquely overrated.

One thing, BR has Burk's TS has 64% this season in two games, it was 55% last season. Also keep in mind an age disparity, but Burks is underrated. I don't know how he is as a defender but he would have been my ideal 6th man for us.

This we can agree on.
