My Official Projection is up at the blog.

I posted two approaches -- one that use my statistical doppelganger machine and the other using basketball-reference's SRS projections. In both approaches, I use my own playing time projections.

My approach predicts 45 wins (low end of 41; high end of 48).

The SRS approach predicts 48 wins (low end 43; high 52).

SRS is more optimistic than my approach about the performance of the team's older players, but less optimistic about some of the younger guys.

Final prediction: 45 wins and 5th seed.

I had predicted 48 wins but I think the injuries to our shooters are going to cost us at least 2 wins this month. So drop me to 46.

I like our reserves behind Webster and Beal, so I'm going to go with 49 wins. The most I've ever predicted at this site since I started lurking in 2006. :)

54 Wins, 2nd place.

The hype and buzz from the punditry, stemming from a credible playoff performance, validated by the Truth, and resulting in several national television appearances, becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy, finally earning the team decent treatment from the refs, including some superstar calls for the reigning dunk contest king, which in combination with the continuing improvement in marksmanship renders him essentially unguardable. The supporting cast is good enough, if they stay reasonably healthy.

The ref angle definitely is relevant, as long as we don't try to make ourselves into some half-baked, weak version of the bad boys, which strikes me as highly unlikely.

I think with Paul Pierce they can be somewhat like those bad boy Pistons. Referees are going to respect Wall, Beal and Pierce. Pierce is like Aguirre and Dantley. Nene and Gortat have size and skill like Laimbeer and Mahorn. The Wizards have two potential all star guards, especially if they play physical ball. Humphries and Blair are physical guys. The team won't just be a bunch of goons. However, this team is built to bang

... With an offense that simply doesn't. Other than PP and occasionally Wall, we just don't do much to initiate contact.

Yep. I know the coaching staff put emphasis on getting to the FT line during preseason. That's a problem of an offense that takes a lot of shots the defense is willing to concede. They don't give the defense a reason to foul them.

In a late surge of voting, the Mean dropped to 48.4 and the Mode dropped to 46.5 (46 and 47 are tied).

Last year's Mode was spot on with 44.

The Range was 18 buffeted by PIF and BigA with a Median of 49.5.

7-3 would be my guess before the 1st game against Cleveland. Honestly the schedule doesn't look horrible until they get to the end of December: @Houston, @Dallas, @OKC, @Spurs.
Bickerstaff: who's up for kickball?!!
Ed Wood: Only if it's the no-pants variety.
