you need to step back and think about how Marvin Williams hitting wide open shots is nice and all but utterly meaningless now and in the long run if we don't have a guy like Kemba that can hit shots like THAT

In Marvins defense he was a massive part of our 24 point comeback.

I agree, thats why I gave him a hammer. But any starter should hit those shots like Marvin was hitting, they were all wide open fed shots. Personally I weigh things differently for creators vs those that are created for.

Ultimately, Kembas job is to lead the team to victory and hit big shots, Marvins job is to hit wide open jumpers. Kemba did his job. Marvin did his job. Props to both guys. Kembas job is 100x harder than Marvins job, so I'll give Kemba the gold every time in that comparison. Thats just how I see it

Gold - Kemba - pretty inefficient game overall but came up huge when it mattered

Silver - MKG - A couple sweet jumpers, awesome from the free throw line, great energy/confidence

Bronze - Lance - Was going to give it to Marv, but I just felt like Lance played such a huge part in the comeback/getting the fans into the game. Hustle plays (took charge after turnover, getting back for that loose ball after he got hurt, he did all the little things even though the shooting was terrible). What a ***** competitor.

HM- Marvin - Big part of the comeback, lots of clutch shots
HM - The fans - Fans were big time, willed the team to win.

I never said we didn't need Kemba, he's a great player. He still had a bad game though.

SO good to have the Hammers back!!

Image = MKG
Played with confidence, had such an impact, on both ends, played well all 4 qtrs and injected such energy.

Image = Lance
Created so many opportunities for everyone and, like MKG, injected such energy into the game. Played some stellar D as well.

Image = Kemba
Those two big shots were just cold blooded.

The team plays so much better with him on the floor. The game opens up for everyone and the energy level rises. He just finds ways to shift momentum and win. He speaks a basketball language we can't understand because we're not sharing the court with him - but his teammates seem to translate it. I think the chemistry between him, Lance and MKG is really going to grow. They're similar in that they're highly competitive and play with high intensity and good energy. I think this team is the best thing to happen to Lance. I think it will keep him grounded. I bet Lance has never heard an opening night crowd like tonight. These guys want to win - and that starts with Kemba. He sets the tone for the team culture. He definitely overrates himself. He believes he can do anything out there. But you need players like that. You need an abundance of confidence to carry a team through the kind of droughts and downward spirals like the ones we witnessed tonight. His ability to change a defense can't be quantified - his presence, his quickness open up the floor for beneficiaries' like Marvin and MKG. I believe in this young man. If Al and Lance can do their part we're going to have a really strong core and a very skilled core. Seeing the improvements in MKG and the growth of Zeller since the beginning of last year seems to be perfectly timed with Kemba's emergence as a clutch player and true floor leader. If you remove Kemba from the game, we don't win it.

kemba - wanted to give this to MKG but two enormous game-changing shots weighed heavily. and seriously he's the heart and soul of this team.

MKG - oh hell yes. if this is MKG 2.0 then look out

marvin - hit shots. there was one 3 he hit that was massive. not because it was a huge turning point in the game or anything, but how he got that shot. very heady and well-timed flare to the corner on an elbow P&R. the defender had no chance because of marvin's very astute conservation of movement. i saw that and thought "huh, that is something we'll see again in the playoffs". it was that sharp of execution. real eye-opener for me with him.

honorable mention: lance who shook off maybe some jitters and some rust and some cramps and showed how he's going to help. man, his passing is going to fit right in. that fast break with him and MKG... also he's a bulldog when he drives. you could tell he sized up antetokounmpo a few times and took him 1-on-1. antetokounmpo is ridiculously long and limber, and quick off his feet, and lance was able to get him off balance and get a decent look (missed the lay-in though).

Gold: Kemba, as most have said he had a very bad game...but when it was on the line he came up strong. Incredibly clutch

Silver: MKG, very happy with him

Bronze: Marvin. Great through the game and also scoring 4 vital points in Overtime

Gold: Gotta go with Kemba for those two gigantic shots
Silver: MKG
Bronze: Marvin

If MKG and Marvin can have games like this frequently, we're going to do just fine.

HM: Lance, who had multiple plays that swung momentum our way when we really needed it.
Also gonna throw Cody an HM.

Brown frown to Clifford for not playing Biz. At least put him in there for that final defensive stand!

Gold: MKG
Silver: Marvin
Bronze: Kemba

Kidd-Gilchrist was the steadying force for us all night. He did everything you could ask for and more, easy choice as the most valuable player over the entire game. Marvin really impressed, hopefully he can keep hitting those open shots and will improve on the defensive end. The defensive lapses don't change the fact he was hitting some clutch shots, especially in OT. Kemba is self-explanatory. He was chuckerific early but showed that heart and hustle we all love in the key moments. Still needs to improve shot selection and decision-making, but it's easy to put those questions off for another day or two if you hit a couple buzzer-beaters.

MKG- Best overall game from start to finish
Kemba- Only for the big shots, didn't play tremendously well and missed too many FTs that left us in some binds
Marv- Make big shots when needed even if they weren't buzzer beaters.

G: Kemba. Not just because of the shots at the end -- which were amazing -- but because of how in-control he is of this team. The offense flows so much better with him in the game. He also had zero TOs.

S: MKG. Loved everything about his game. Same aggressive nature with a nice soft jumper. Great from the FT line too.

B: Lance. Marvin hit some big-time shots, but Lance's energy and determination really made a difference in the 2nd half. And .... that dunk .... :o
