Just reading through Kevin Pelton's nba chat, and thought this was pretty funny.

Brett (ATL)

Do fans realize that the Hawks' front office isn't just sitting around thinking of ways to just give Horford away to their favorite team?
Kevin Pelton (4:16 PM)

Nah, that's the case. And Marc Gasol is thinking about how he can sign with your favorite team as a free agent.

Would any of you trade for Kobe?

I would...

It makes no sense at all. The Suns cannot sign him long term without Bird rights and they will have none. All he will do is syphon off playing time from two players (Len and Plumlee) who need it or sulk on the bench because he will not have PT to showcase his game for upcoming free agency.

BTW the Suns like Gerald Green and do not appear to be interested in trading him.

What's your reasoning? Is it just a personal dislike for the man? Or do you think he wouldn't improve our team?

Both, we have so many great ballhandlers that can drive and score, and all Kobe does is jack up shots and isn't very efficient. Plus he makes $23 million. I think his contract is a negative. He would marginalize all of our guards.

And yes, he is my least favorite player in the history of the league too.

We are perfectly fine with Dragic, Bledsoe and Thomas in the backcourt.

Not when you look at what you have to give up to make the numbers work.

We'll see as the season progresses. Clearly we have a log jam at our SG/SF position, I'd rather trade Tucker and keep Green, but I'm just uncertain he's gonna be here after this season.

Just stop it now.

For starters and enders.....Kobe would veto any trade here.

I haven't read anything, but I wonder if the Suns have made a serious effort to extend Green.

I'd love to get news by tomorrow that the Suns made a bold move by getting Green extended at say 21/3. I know it's getting late careerwise for Gerald, but if he can just improve his handle and BBIQ just a little, he's going to be a very solid and routinely spectacular SG for many years to come.

The Suns are already capped next summer IIRC. Locking him down even at a pretty high number would be good both for keeping him long term and probably enhancing the asset of Gerald Green for possible, maybe even soon trade propositions. I'm very open to keeping Green, but know the Suns almost HAVE to make a big trade relatively soon to get off the treadmill. A surprise 11th hour Green extension would boost both options values.

Not expecting any news, but I hope McD and Babby tried...are trying. Couldn't blame Gerald if he's wanting a free agent tour next summer.

I would love to seem him extended also, unfortunately Suns cannot extend Green's existing deal. To be eligible for an extension the original contract has to be at least 4 years and the max raise on an extension is 107.5%. which likely is not enough. Green's contract was 3 years and an extension cannot double his existing salary.

(As Emily Litella) "Never Mind!"

Have I mentioned that it's great to have an on staff capologist?

23 million reasons to be exact ... we would have to gut our team in order to make a trade work.

I cannot imagine a worse fit for our team than Kobe. We are a ball movement offense that relies on unselfishness and good chemistry. He is a ball hog and cancer. He would not work here for the same reason he didn't fit with Nash (when Nash was healthy) and Lin is about to have a terrible season, Kobe marginalizes all the other guards. You have to have an entire team of guys willing to play off the ball, and we absolutely do not have that. We have 3 ball dominate guards as the crux of our offense. Dragic especially would be rendered utterly useless with Kobe here.

Yeah but Kobe could mentor the young fellow and teach him how to get what he wants whether he's on the court or vacationing in Colorado.
