A lot more negatives than positives so we should be happy with the win. Faried and Afflalo looked good at least. Once Ty gets his confidence back and everyone else's jumpshots start falling, we can be dangerous offensively. Need to see Shaw cut down the rotation and allow them to get out and run more though.

I think Shaw is still trying to figure out the rotation. Gee provided some good minutes at the end, ended up being +8 in 11 minutes. I'm not sure how you only play 9 guys with this roster. I'll give Shaw time to figure it out along the way as long as we're on our way to 50+ wins.

It was a different win, can't remember the last time we won a grind it out defensive game.

Hopefully Ty figures it out because the offense falls apart when he's not playing well.

Faried stepping up to his contract, Gallo needs more time. Like what Mozgov brought but have to agree it was a sloppy win. We should take the win over DET, glad to see we pulled it out. Nurkic has some soft hands and good feet, gotta like that kid.

Hey, only 57 out of the next 81 and it'll seem like a good year, right ??

good game by the bosnian bear (jusuf nurick). Liked what I saw tonight. Looks like we shed some of the rust from the off-season. Hope the bench can produce more.

This is a game we lose by 10+ last year. Despite some rust, I was actually very pleased with what I saw. Faried's 20/17 game looked easy for him and he didn't seem pleased during his post game interview, which is good. I remember during one post game interview they told him his stats and on air he said something along the lines of Holy ****! I did that? It's a small thing but he's maturing.

Gee won us the game in the end, that dude's D was impressive and completely took out Augustin.

Nurkic proved that he can be a valuable backup, his rebounding skills look better than either Mcgee/Mozgov. His offense is a bit suspect but he's young, its expected.

McGee is better off sitting on the bench counting to 12 million, if he gets there, that's a positive, it means he didn't play this year.

and what about Faried's defense over Smith?

I think main reasons for the win were Gee & Affalo

Personally I hope Shaw is not going back to his everybody who dresses gets to play, such as he did last year. A 10 man rotation should be more than enough, as it is hard to get into any kind of rhythm playing for a couple of minutes here and there.

I would guess the rotation shortens as Nate, Gallo and McGee get back to being able to play off minute restrictions and are in good game shape. It will be tough though with guys like Nurkic and Gee playing as well as they did.

Faried's defense on Smith was clearly very lacking. Smith can be a tough 4 to guard simply because you generally are going to want to stay off of him and let me try to hit long shots instead of playing him tight where he can use his athleticism to go around you and down low. I am hoping the game plan was to do just that and Smith just happened to come out shooting very well, because if not, Faried played absolutely horrible defense.

I wonder if Ty is still having issues with that hamstring. He didn't seem to have his normal speed and was just in a funk all game. We clearly need him to return to the level he was playing at last year if this team is going to go anywhere in the season.

I read somewhere prior to the game that Shaw was saying they were going to let Smith have outside shots, and given his history with horrible shot selection and overall outside shooting I do not think that was a bad plan.

Yeah let Smith chuck away and instead worry about controlling the paint. Good plan IMO- eventually it started working.

Simply put, the Nugs' shots just weren't falling. The offense actually produced a lot of good looks that would go in at a higher rate most nights. If they even shoot close to league average (let's say 45%), that's around another 8 made shots, or 16 points. Even shooting at 40%, this would have been considered a blowout.

Of course there are things to work on, but it was a decent start.

Mozgov must make a good amount of 3's at practice because lately he always attempts at least 1 per game

i was convinced that one from the wing with ~4 minutes left was gonna cost them the game.
