Re: Official Trade Thread: Two drink minimum
We can't do it right now but how about a midseason trade with Minnesota? Return their draft pick, Ennis and Tolliver for Young.

Shouldn't this be the Unofficial Trade Thread...?

That is funny. Seriously. I always find it funny when things are named "Official" but with trades, it actually is about as wrong as a thread title can get.

Perry Jones!!
myself and other Suns fans here see the potential..
And he has shown it tonight.
I want him as the stretch/dribbling PF the Suns need.... could be much more suitable PF for the Suns... 6'11 afterall.. who can dribble and create shots.

PJ3 was the one I wanted instead of Marshall back in that draft.

Re: Official Trade Thread: Two drink minimum
I was also interested in PJ3 back in that draft. Unfortunately, the way our team is currently constructed I don't see any room for him on our roster. Plus, I think the Thunder will most likely package him and Reggie Jackson to gather a SG or C. Maybe throw in Perkins contract, Jackson, PJ3 for Roy Hibbert?

I do like Payne, though your offer may be a tad rich for me. If we are a 7 or 8 seed, that would be 2 #18 picks for Payne. It would seem there could be a deal in there somewhere, but not sure what pieces would be good, fair value.
This trade would not happen this year for one very important reason...if you trade Ennis, drafted 18th, plus a pick, to a guy that was drafted just 3 spots ahead of Ennis in the same draft, is pretty much admitting the GM made a mistake in the draft just a few short months ago and couldn't make a reasonable trade then...at least that's how I would see it. As you said...a bit too rich. A 2nd? Maybe, but still, we had the opportunity to draft him at 14 and passed, so not sure they had the inkling to draft Payne, and probably wouldn't trade for him either.
But back to the original topic, I don't want to see any trades yet, unless it's for an "All NBA" type "big". And I don't see one of those becoming available until the trade deadline. Now, I will relent some if Len gets injured and is out for the season. But I personally don't want to see any mid-level "big" talent coming in to take time away from Len's development. If they package Plumlee with Ennis, rights to Bogdan, and/or draft picks, then fine, because then we are "upgrading" Plumlee, not taking valuable minutes away from Len. Or if we trade the Morri (sacrilegious, right?), then we are "upgrading" our PF, not taking minutes away from the Morri (I happen to believe by mid-season, we are all going to be thrilled by the deal we got on these two, but that's just me.
)Len needs to be given a chance. By all accounts, he looked good in game one, right? There is hope...let's develop Len and see where we are, at the trade deadline...as of right now, I don't want to see any trades, TBH.
EDIT: Been jammed with work lately, so just saw that Westbrook is out...OKC with the ultimate tank and trade Ibaka to us!!! 2015 LAL 1st, anyone? That plus their "tank"....oof, they'd be scary with Okafor or Towns coming in...

I don't think we passed on Payne, we just jumped at the chance to draft Warren. I think when all is said and done he'll be one of the top 5 players from this draft. And I don't see it as declaring the Ennis selection a failure. We have a real need, one that did not exist when the draft went down. Giving up a low first rounder to move up 3 spots in the draft is, at worst, a slight overpayment. Given our needs, a slight overpayment doesn't concern me. If Payne can help us (and I believe he can), it would be a move to pair him with Len rather than to replace him. He's the closest I can think of to a Frye replacement.

If the Bulls/Spurs don't wanna pay Butler/Leonard, we should look into acquiring one of them so we can get bird rights. Both would be big time upgrades for our front court imo especially Leonard.

OK. I can't really argue your standpoint on this...it was really just how I personally feel about it. But hey, if he's as good as you project, then I wouldn't mind it. But that's some high praise considering guys like Wiggins, Randle, Parker, Warren, and Embiid. I think they all will be better overall, personally, but if you are right, then yep, I'd trade a 1st and Ennis and not think too much about it. TBH, I was surprised we didn't go with a PF somewhere in the 1st.

I think something got lost in the translation. It's TJ Warren that I believe will be a top player from this draft, not Payne. Payne is still mostly a question mark. If he's as good as Frye, Ennis and our pick would not be enough to get him. He's similar to Channing in style but it remains to be seen whether he'll develop into a good stretch 4/5 in this league. Given our strength with guards, I think it's a gamble worth taking even if we have to pay a slight premium.

I know the Spurs probably won't but if the Bulls think Butler isn't worth what he's asking for, we could give them Ennis, Tucker and like the Minnesota pick for him.
Chicago gets a cheaper replacement who is locked in for next couple years while we get Butler.

I think Spurs are trying to get a discount on Leonard but he wants max. I think the Lakers are gonna offer him the max and the Spurs will match, though I don't think Leonard wants to stay in San Antonio, lol. Just a gut feeling for some reason.

in...
So you are saying that McDonough would pass on a good trade because of his ego. He would be too proud to let it look like he was wrong about someone in the draft.
I don't see him doing that. He is value focused. He is a former scout. Those guys always see players as developing stories. They speculate about how the story will end but they also know that the story almost always ends differently than they expect.

Re: Official Trade Thread: Two drink minimum
Ok.... heres my nickel, gimme three cents back.
It might be early to speculate.... but Green looks to be totally expendable
Ennis, Notso, and Warren may not see the court much and could be packaged as well.
Tolliver and Randolph just salary fodder.
Plumlee playing himself out of minutes too.
Tucker has value, but most teams have version of PJ, or can find one for less $$. I do think the FO wants him around for the next two/three.
With those players as swap chips, coupled with a draft pick here or there..... I just don't see a top notch Big coming our way unless it is by request during a pre-tank firesale. Its a luxury to have a top 10 center or PF. About the only guy who comes to mind is David West, but we would have to give up a very sweet rebuild package, which would likely ruffle some feathers around here. Plus, we lack salary combinations to acquire a 10+ mill man. I guess thats where Green and PJ come into the equation.
Perhaps we should see what a package of Green/Ennis/Toliver/Phnx 1st yields......
One more note..... There is one other guy I am keeping an eye on. Olynck on the Celts. I think he'd fit into Fryes empty shoes. There is no telling what horse trader Ainge is up too. They can't rebuild forever. I think that would be a draft day deal where we can dangle a top 10 pick (if the fLakers cooperate)
And really, outside of our own pick, the other two firsts can easily evaporate this season. I think we stand pat, or possibly move Green for a second rounder

Nikola Mirotic is going to be very good after he gets opportunity. Chicago needs PG, so:
Ennis+Tolliver for Mirotic
Ennis+Tolliver for Mirotic
