A Few Random, Mildly Coherent Thoughts

Post#1 » by bondom34 » Fri Oct 31, 2014 4:53 pm

Wow. So gonna be interesting this year guys...unfortunately so. But was just thinking about everything and had a few random notes from my brain to just share, maybe they'll make anyone else feel mildly better too.

1. I think the first thing this showed me is to never take this team for granted. We've got 2 top 5 players on the roster, and its amazing to get to watch them as much as we do. Enjoy the ride.

2. We get to see how these guys do in real roles, not spot minutes off the bench. RJ, you wanted to start and be the best? Go for it. Lamb, show us what you've got. PJ III, same.

3. Just a final note, but I remembered the time when I actually enjoyed this team the most, and it wasn't the run to the finals. It was before that, when they got knocked out in round 1 against LA, but scared them half to death as a low seed. This team may or may not make the playoffs, we'll see. But if they get a low seed, they'll be the scariest low seed imaginable.

Just enjoy the ride fellas, look at the positive whenever you get the chance, and don't let the gen board get you down. :D

Lamb in year two was the same per minute player as James Harden in year two. I just hope Lamb can take the same year three jump that Harden did. We don't need this team to play .600 ball. We just need them to stay within striking distance of the 8 seed. As long as they are within 5 games of the 8 seed when KD and Russ get back they'll make the playoffs. As long as they are healthy and playing well headed into the playoffs the seeding doesn't matter.

It's kinda nice not having to live and die on a win every night. No expectations is going to be fun to watch but it's going to be frustrating knowing what we're missing.

Can RJ, IBaka, and Adams carry the team to atleast .500?

Nothing pisses me off more than Adams not blocking shots that are easily blockable because he is scared of fouls... Got to play smarter man...

Yep, agreed. Honestly in a way I think these upcoming weeks should help us to appreciate the team more.

RJ
Lamb
PJ3
Ibaka
Adams

Is that enough to carry us anywhere close to .500% over the next month and a half? I hope so or it could be season over before Westbrook, Durant and Morrow even come back.

On a side note, one thing I do like about that 5 is the length and athleticism we have, they should be able to hold there own defensively quite well.

I think when RJ and Lamb come back the lineup will have Roberson in for Lamb, while Lamb comes off the bench for more balanced scoring. Late in games Brooks could ride the hot hand between Roberson/PJ3/Lamb.

Roberson will be starting the entire season imo, he's a great on ball defender, something we will need moving forward, the offense will be disgustingly bad regardless of who is on the floor. We simply don't have the talent to compete on that side of the ball, if we are to win, it will have to be 48 minutes of grind like the Grizzlies/Pacers/Roseless Bulls.
