I think it is obvious in a close game he should be sitting just like Dwight does and Shaq before him. Right now maybe doesn't matter if the Pistons become competitive it does matter.

Maybe it gets better if you start Augustin over Jennings and Monroe over SMith? I know that would be very hard to do given the contracts, but these guys are just massive liabilities. Can Monroe play together with Drummond?
DTP wrote:Smith is not a starting caliber power forward? Do you idiots seriously read the comments you post? My goodness. Lets me all remind you, one of the very important parts of a SVG offense is the fact that there are outside shooters around the bigs, to give the bigs room to operate. The perimeter guys have not played well so far and partly because our two best outside shooters haven't been dressed. 23% from 3 in Game 1 & 33% from 3 last night. You need outside shooters for this offense to be at its best.....the offense was a struggle big time last night.
Monroe will help a little bit simply because he'll help rebounding wise and the best overall offensive player on the roster but still won't change the fact, WE NEED OUR PERIMETER GUYS TO SHOOT BETTER. If you don't want Smith taking 3s, someone else has to step up and do it. Josh went 0-2 last night from 3...one of those attempts was an end of the shot clock bail out as Augustin gave it to him with nothing else to do. The second 3 was the late 4th quarter attempt...which he got a good look, wasn't rushed, feet were set, it just didn't go in.
Am I happy happy with every shot he takes? Absolutely not....same can be said for any and every player. But stop the freakin overreactions, seriously. Can't believe some of you have the nerve to criticize someone else's basketball IQ.... And Monroe in the lineup, starting or off the bench, doesn't change the fact our perimeter guys have to hit shots for this team to go anywhere.

I hate the "if not Josh who else is gonna take the 3's" fallacy that people have. SVG's system doesn't require a freaking quota of 3's. It also doesn't require a bunch of people around the perimeter with one big man inside. STOP BELIEVING THIS ALREADY. His system requires good shots be taken. So if not Josh Smith shooting 3's, how about a layup from someone? How about a 12 footer off a pullup? If Josh resists the idiotic urge of taken shots he can't make, there's the possibility of swinging the ball around to eventually end up with a better shot. Stop thinking it's Josh's 3's vs. somebody else's 3s. It's Josh's 3s vs. a better shot period. Whatever it may be.

Well considering SVG's teams are always among the top of the league in 3pt attempts and percentage...and the fact that his biggest off season goal was to bring in outside shooters, yes.....I do believe his system has a quota on 3s. SVG is a huge believer of the analytic game....you know- 3s, layups, & free throws. Don't think 12 footer pullups is in that equation much.
You need perimeter guys to open the floor, you can't operate without it. You want life to be easier on Drummond, Smith, and Monroe from inside? Got to have outside shooters dude. Basketball IQ 101 bro....
