A lineup of Brian Roberts/Gary Neal/Gerald Henderson/Cody Zeller/Jason Maxiell is assuredly to get blown out by any NBA caliber team, and especially the length that the Bucks have throughout their roster

Swap Neal for Hairston and Maxiell for Biyombo and that bench immediately becomes very good. We can't trade away Clifford's dumb veteran crutches (Neal, Maxiell) fast enough.

I think Henderson or Neal need to be traded to make room for Hairston in the rotation. Hairston was a offensive explosion waiting to happen in the preseason, and could fulfill the 6th man role a lot better than either of Henderson or Neal if you ask me. I hope Hairston can eventually find a way into the rotation down the stretch of the season going into the playoffs if not sooner

...but like you said, Clifford has shown a tendency to play veterans over talent regardless of results

I agree, Neal is an expiring contract so he's it if you ask me.

Last nights game was amazing! I had a feeling we were going to come back and make a game of it, we have too many high character, tough guys to just give in. My general thoughts.

1st half defense was horrible. We allowed guys to get into the lane way to much, especially brandon knight, Kemba needs to tighten up that perimeter defense.

We definitely need to be prepared for teams doubling Al throughout the game now. With Big Al's season last year, teams realize he's our go to guy and are game planning for it. We have to find the proper spacing when we feed it to him and Al needs to be prepared to kick it out to open guys for uncontested threes. I think we'll get this cleaned up.

The bench rotation seemed kind of off. I can understand though because we haven't really had everyone available all preseason so it's hard for the coaching staff to get those combinations right. One thing is for sure; I think someone between Gerald and Neal will have to go. PJ definitely needs minutes and Clifford even stated in the press conference today that he had a conversation with PJ because he feels PJ has earned minutes but he's till trying to figure out the rotation. One thing I did really like was when we had lance in with the bench. it was a very nice three minute stretch where Lance facilitated while Neal, Roberts, and Cody found spaces for open shots. I feel like we need to have either Kemba or lance on the floor at all times or with minimum stretches where one of them is not on the floor.

MKG was phenomenal! He looked liked the second overall pick in the draft last night. He played great defense, he was hitting that mid range jumper, he rebounded, blocked shots, and even facilitated a bit. He was an even better version of Gerald Wallace when he was at his best with the Bobcats. 17pts 8reb 3ast 3blks 6-8fg 5-6ft in 34 minutes of play. And what i loved even more is that Clifford played him late with the game on the line. He would have had more minutes if not for some early foul trouble due to a bogus foul call.

Marvin Williams was a great spacer last night. He won't go 8-12 every night with 50% from three, but I think we got a sense of what a confident Marvin Williams can give us. he needs to get better on the defensive end as far as his rotations and help defense, but I trust Coach Cliff to have him improve as the season goes on.

Lance was 3-12 and got frustrated but never stopped competing. Even when he started cramping up, you could tell he wanted to be out there. He didn't take some open shots in the second half probably because he didn't feel he had his legs under him, but that last quarter and a half and into OT he put it all on the line and had some really good assist and rebounds. When his legs are back and that shot is falling we could really be dangerous.

I can't wait for Saturday now. Memphis is going to be a real test against a team some are picking to go to the Western Conference Finals.

Could Hollywood have scripted a better return game? A comeback game in the comeback game? For those that said you could never match The Coliseum the atmosphere was electric! I found myself giving high fives to people I have never seen before in my life, the way we all came together to cheer on OUR team! Wow, it just can't get any better than this.

His shooting/scoring was bad though, according to the boxscore, something else he does, he can disappear mentally and be the most frustrating guy on the team offensively.

All I know is that you are now my second favourite team in the NBA, exciting set-up, MKG is going to be a good quality player, Kemba is always fun to watch and now Lance to create a real rock and rolla backcourt. So let me know? how did you rate his debut?

He was playing as if he was nervous. I also noticed that he was very hesitant to shoot the ball.

Stepheson is a great slasher, but the long bigs for Milwaukee made it hard to get any buckets in the paint.

He did facilitate and rebound very well and almost came away with a triple double which is encouraging considering he played so poorly on the offensive end. I'm expecting some big things out of him this year.

P.S....the hive was rocking. Felt like the good ole days. Just hearing the "Lets Go Hornets" chants and the bee sound effects gave me chills. The Hornets are truly back!!!

He will have been nervous, I actually believe he is affected by nerves a lot more than people realise because of his brass nature. I think sometimes he finds it difficult to live with himself, if you know what I mean?

Having said that, he never ever gives up, he can talk himself out of a game (which is where he disappears) but he won't stop running and hustling. This is of course at times frustrating, I have seen him and wanted to pull my hair out because he just kept looking for that elusive score.

Anyway, sounds like you guys have already realised you've got a special guy on the books! Now go show that silly division of yours what the Hornets are about!

TV rating for Hornets opener was second-highest ever

The overnight television rating for the Charlotte Hornets’ season-opener against the Milwaukee Bucks Wednesday was the second-highest in franchise history.

The game drew a 2.83 rating in the greater Charlotte market, which translates to approximately 33,000 television households, according to SportSouth, the regional sports network that carries Hornets games.

The only game that drew better than that was a match-up with the Miami Heat in the 2011-12 season. That game pulled a 3.29 rating.

Hey, MountainDrew, the man who gives me updates on Chelsea players on loan. Question for you - has the media in Sweden been talking about Jeff Taylor at all? And if so, what are they saying?

Very little buzz or attention being payed to him. There's some reports about the domestic violence thing, reports say that he has to go through a 26 week treatment program to make him less violent, and he will receive treatment against alcoholism, with daily alcohol tests. It's possible that he will also be banned from the Swedish national team for some time, but they have not decided about that and it will almost certainly not be permanent if it does happen.

I definitely think it was his nerves too. I also noticed that Lance wasn't sitting on the bench with the team. He was standing by the tunnel to the locker room most of the time he wasn't in the game. It may have been him trying to stay loose or something or tying to work that groin injury out.

Oh, he does that in Charlotte as well? seems to be a way for him to stay focussed, wouldn't think too much of it.

only now found the time to watch this.

couple things since there isn't no point to talk about this extensively with another game coming up:

I felt like Kemba's shot just didn't fall and he couldn't make an open shot to save his life. Yeah, there were a couple bad ones but that's pretty much a given with Kemba. But, yes, he actually went 2/9 on catch-and-shoot situations and in a very Kemba-ish manner had 4/8 on pull-ups.

A few concerning slip-ups by Kemba on defense that kind of characterize the whole team so far. Every other possession someone makes a brain fart that results in 2 points. The exact opposite of what we were last year, when attention to details was paid. Kemba was a bit too jumpy (as he usually is) on some plays that ended with Knight scoring.

oh and I definitely didn't see Marv being a problem on defense like some accused him to be. since ha had to guard guys who really play more on the outside anyway, he had little to do with Milwaukee getting points in our paint. it was a suitable match-up for him (unlike Z-Bo).

Didn't Bird call that spot Lance's corner or something like that in Indiana?
