The Cowboys plan to move Sean Lee to weak-side linebacker in 2015.
On injured reserve with a torn left ACL, Lee is expected to be ready for training camp next summer. He will play "Will 'backer" in Rod Marinelli's defense after spending his first four seasons in the middle. The Cowboys will hope Rolando McClain continues to solidify himself as a legitimate starting Mike 'backer.
I personally dont think that is set in stone just yet.

Re: plans to move Lee to Will in 2015.
This is a tough one for me and my stance on it hasn't changed even with another Lee injury. First off Lee is by far our best defensive player. We need to build around him. Second he is going to stick his nose in everywhere, wherever you play him, and I don't buy the fact that he will be less likely to get injured on the weak side. But, like I said before last years draft it's about what makes the team the best. Just like I said I would move Lee if we drafted Mosley to play in the middle, I would move him if McClain continues to play as well as he has AND we resign him. The main reason I feel this way is because I'm convinced Lee would excel at any LB spot in this defense. On the weak side he could run to the ball and use his instincts to shoot the gaps and blow up plays before they get started. McClain however is built to play the Mike in this defense.
So it's Lee's versatility that makes this possible and IF you resign McClain you kind of have to do it, but I totally agree with you that it is not set in stone (not even close). You know it's not coming from Jason or Marinelli right now, so it's either being created by the media or if its coming from a Cowboy insider it's from Tweedle Dee or Tweedle Dumb...and we all know neither of them has a clue about anything other than how to get themselves in front of a microphone...

I worry about McClain being here Sunday, much less next year. Heck of a player but he misses a ton of practice. I would love to see him and Lee on the same defense

That and the fact that he retired twice are why no one associated with the team other than the Jones' would be putting Lee on the weak side as a guarantee for next year halfway through this year.

He is an odd guy. After the Giant game, I wondered what his excuse was gonna be about practicing that week and he actually practiced every time. He then went out and had his worst game vs Washington. The guy seems to have as much support as one can possibly have. Fans love him, the coaches love him, the players need him and the owner makes sure he gets mentioned every week. He came out a few weeks back and kind of said he would not sign a new contract until Garrett did. I really wonder what JG really thinks of him.

Get your best players on the field. I have no doubt Sean Lee can play any of the linebacker spots and considering he is a playmaking linebacker the weak side is probably ideal for him. Of course the reality is that we will be lucky to get 16 games combined out of he and Rolando next year....

I loved Durants play this year. I don't know how long it will take him to recover. With that being said, Hitchens is coming on fast. He was all over the place Sunday. He still makes mistakes but they will be corrected. Hard for me not to see him playing somewhere next year. In other words Carter better pick it up a notch.

Lee is a "old School type player" and by that I mean he could play LB in any era at any position now Im not comparing him to any of the greats of the past just that he could play and contribute solidly until he gets hurt.
that's not a shot at Lee I think he is a wonderful player that just happens to be injury prone
While were not the Redskins and already looking forward to next year it is kinda interesting to "project" a possible LBing core for next year but truthfully lets get through the year before we drool over the possible next years defense

that would really surprise me considering his attitude. He is one of those players I want around the team even when he is injured. I think he only knows how to go all out. Holds himself very accountable
