Re: The Andrew Wiggins Thread
Whoa, whoa, whoa - don't we think we're getting ahead of ourselves with this Wiggins to Toronto narrative? I mean he has at least 5 years with us and that's assuming he takes the highly unconventional route and signs the qualifying offer after his 4 year rookie deal. Let's enjoy watching him play and hopefully maxing out his potential in a Wolves jersey.

Wiggins is so smiley all the time, it reminds me of another athletic player we drafted that had "The NBA look"...but I won't dare say his name.
Kevin Garnett!
The fact Wiggins is from a cold weather metropolis and loves the Raps is better in my book than a guy from SoCal who loves the Lakers.

I think wiggins when his contract is up will weigh his options , Toronto has a very good young team, it's very possible he does go back it could be a very good situation and it's his home town . Could you blame him ? I mean if he's a star if want him to stay but he's going to do what's best for his career just like everybody else.
Why is this idiotic crap being posted?
He just played his first game; dementia having it's way?

I didn't see the Detroit game so, can anyone explain why wiggins was benched for the fourth quarter?

I wouldn't read much into it. The Wolves have a ton of wings and Flip just went with a more veteran group in the fourth.

I heard that it was because Flip heard that Wiggins wants to bolt for Toronto in 8-9 years.

How long will Saunders be in Minnesota? Is his future tied to Wiggins'?

Shabazz had a little carryover from the 3rd. But the basic lineup was Rubio/Williams/Martin/Brewer. With Martin and Brewer rotating offense and defense late in the game.

Thanks. Hopefully, by January wiggins will prove worthy of being picked number one. Bennett's looking better but, if you wanna win, I guess you've gotta go with Young

Saunders' longevity as coach is interesting...because its probably tied to what other coaches become available. I could see him every offseason at least having conversations with the Hoibergs and Izzos and others. Not really interviewing but gauging interest. If someone bites, who knows.
The more likely scenario is that he is going to coach for at least a few years. I don't think its really tied to Wiggins. But it might be tied to this entire team he put together. Its tied to Rubio living up to his contract, Lavine being better than average, Wiggins being all-star level, Dieng being a top 10 center, etc. If that happens, they are probably a pretty good team in the west. If it doesn't...
He and Glen are unlikely to 'fire' him. But after 4-5 years of mediocrity they may go the 'blow up the roster' path, and add a new head coach at same time for a 'new voice'...

I watched the FIBA World Cup & I thought Saunders is a fool for not playing Dieng more often. He's easily a 20/10/5 player. No offense to Pekovic but, with Dieng in the starting line up The Pack could easily outrun most teams in the West.

Re: The Andrew Wiggins Thread
After only 2 games, i am not ready to call Saunders a fool. Gorgui went out for over a quarter the 1st game, and Pekovic actually played pretty well against the Pistons. You can't pull Pek, because Gorgui had a good World Cup performance.
The reality is regardless of how we feel...teams aren't going to sit a productive 4 yr 60 mil dollar contract on the bench, or only play them 15min a game. It just doesn't happen often with teams that choose not to have unlimited pockets.
But it is up to Saunders 'over the course of the entire season' to make sure Gorgui gets minutes to develop.
I notice you didn't pull highlights of Pekovic's game when he went 34 and 14 against the clippers, or 31 and 11 on 72% shooting against OKC? Or 30 and 9 in 29 minutes against POR?

Why do people assume that it's Toronto, though?
Throughout NBA history, how many NBA players "went home" in free agency? Other than LeBron, I can't think of many.
It's because it's more than just playing for the city of Toronto. It's also about representing Canada. Basketball in Canada has been on the rise ever since Tristan Thompson and Cory Joseph were drafted in the first round. Imagine if there was only one basketball team in the US and the rest were in Canada. I'm pretty sure American born players would want to play for that one team at some point in their career. Also, Drake has given these kids in Toronto a different outlook on the city. Everyone here calls it "The 6" and some people (like wiggins) are proud of that.

Well for one he wasn't actually born in Canada he moved here from South Africa when he was young. The Canadian players you are seeing now are actually Canadian born and grew up during the Vince Carter era in Toronto, which is very different compared to when Nash grew up. I mean we are hosting our first all-star game in 2016 which shows how much basketball has grown here in popularity. I'm not saying he is going to sign here, but I'm just telling you why people in Toronto think he will. There are too many factors and I think some people are delusional for thinking he will sign with the raptors for sure.

This means that Wiggins in 5 years is going to take QO ?
We better do a good job in the next 5 years building a championship team than.

Re: The Andrew Wiggins Thread
I see Wiggins' development this season will unfold similarly to Neo's character in the Matrix. The first half will be clouded by discouragement, self-doubt, and cynicism "So you're here to save the world...." *scoff* People will start to think that he's just a regular NBA player and may not amount to much...
But then he'll begin to believe...
