11/1 Hawks v.s. Pacers
This is the game day thread for discussing tonight's game against the Pacers.
I'm excited boys! I wish I could be going to Phillips Arena tonight but I have real life problems to take care of first. If anyone is going to the game tonight please post what the atmosphere is like in the arena. I think our guys should definitely be able to handle Indiana tonight. I'm ready to see that rust rub off of Horford!

Re: 11/1 Hawks v.s. Pacers
Thanks for thread you beat me to it.
Key Matchup

Al Horford and his 20.20 Per after one game.
vs
Roy Hibbert and his 22.81 after two games.

This is the only telling and intriguing matchup IMO. How will Horford look after battling yet another 7ft Center. He battled Jonas Valanciuanas in game one and Jonas got the best of the matchup due to his efficiency. Horford needs to get his jumper going and to drive the ball on these types of guys. There is no let up for him even after this game his next opponent will be a 7ft Tim Duncan. The quicker he gets back to highly efficient Al the better we will be.

Hope we see an aggressive Al who's looking to score rather than last game where he looked a little tentative.
Bruce Levinson is probably not thrilled by this T.I. performance.

The homecourt and projection system looks sick. Also gotta say that I appreciate the production put in to this opening ceremony.

Love the ball movement and the aggressivenes by Teague in 1stQ. Pacers look really sloppy and careless thus far.

I like Teague's aggressiveness but I'm not thrilled with how we've played overall. We should have blown out this team, but we played sloppy on several plays, allowing the Pacers to get way too many second chance points.
We were up 17 midway through the second quarter; that we win by <10 at the end shouldn't happen.
EDIT: I'm very mad at DeMarre for missing that FT

Huge win and one that really matters.
Probably a sold out crowd or close to it. I believe standing room tickets ended up being an add on for this game.

Re: 11/1 Hawks v.s. Pacers
It felt like Teague was just toying with the Pacers all game long. Teague would just lay back and not be aggressive, but when ever the Pacers would cut it to five, Teague would take over and confidently make a quick bucket. He did that like four or five times in the game.
Teague is definatly the player of the game, 25/6, 3 steals, 2 blocks, and ONLY 1 TURNOVER!
It felt like if Teague was agressive for the whole game, he could have gotten 40 points, but he decided to just let the game come to him and only be aggressive when the team needed him to be.

Great to see Millsap and Horford are back, they both shot over 60% from the field.

Once again Schroeder revived a DNP. I really want to see this guy get some legit minutes in these next 3-4 games. Teague is it's flat out amazing. Every off-season it seems like he gets more explosive, quicker, and faster. Horford looked great. Glad to see his shot back after that rough shooting performance in Toronto. Same goes for Milsap.
Overall i thought the we played decent. I still think we are about a few weeks away from really clicking in both units. Pacers never should have even been close to us in this game. But thanks to their black Kyle Korver (Copeland) they were able to stay in it.

Big win with our next game being in San Antonio against the defending champs who will be on 5 days rest: a loss here would've given us a good shot at starting out 0-3.
Couldn't watch the game but am thrilled with what I'm reading in regards to Teague, hopefully he doesn't fade out after a hot start to the season, if not then he might make an all star bid.

This could be a homer opinion but I honestly think Teague is a sleeper candidate to get an all-star bid this year. One thing worth noting is that we still got out-rebounded (44-37) by the pacers without david west. The rebounding factor really scares me and is one of the issues that coach Bud needs to address going forward.

Teague looked great but he left me wanting more. He could have had a career night with like 40 points if he would have stayed aggressive throughout the game. He had 11 points in the first 9 minutes and like 8 points in the last 4 minutes. So he scored 6 in the two and a half quarters in between.
He would really be special if he was relentless like Westbrook. Theres nothing wrong with carrying your team when you have a matchup that cant stop you.
Same thing happened in toronto. He waited til the end of the game to get aggressive and we made a big push as soon as he did.

Yeah, rebounding is one of my big pet peeves with this team and has been for awhile. We held Indy to only 11 offensive boards which is at least a step in the right direction.
Looks like Bud is aware of the issue and has addressed it with the wing players:
HereThe Hawks were much better on the boards, an issue that cost them in a season-opening loss to the Raptors. They allowed the Pacers 11 offensive rebounds.
“Coach Bud got on me,” Carroll said of his team-high rebound total. “He got on all the guards about our rebounding. I told him I was trying to be nice to the big men. He said ‘No, you just need to get the rebound.’ I said ‘OK.’ I had to go tell all my big men I have to get back to eight or nine rebounds and there you go.”
It's always comforting when the HC addresses issues BEFORE they become a negative trend and linger.

This is becoming worrisome. Schroeder had a great summer, but plays 4 total minutes to start the season. Jenkins had a great pre-season and camp, but can't even make the active roster?
It's frustrating. With Jenkins time on our team literally running out, it'd be nice just to see what he could do...even in limited minutes.
