WHAT IS THERE TO BE SAID???
Nevermind the goal line fiasco. Perhaps Kap broke into the endzone before the fumble...But did we really deserve to win this game?? A WRETCHED performance by the OL - 8 sacks, 6 by half time....Crabtree dropping more passes, Andy Lee getting off a horrible punt which gave the Rams their final FG with 5 min....Did I mention horrible play by the OL? Inlcuding some stupid penalties. If I am the defense, I am pissed. Couldn't have asked for a better effort by the defense. Time to do some serious evaluating to figure out who belongs on this team going forward and who should be out the door after the season.

I don't think Roman did anything wrong in this game. It wasn't his fault the OL had a complete bed crapping, Kap fumbling a couple exchanges with his new C, and Crab dropping passes.

forgetting we have running backs when the line is sucking at blocking is nothing wrong? not letting the RBs touch the ball in the end is nothing wrong?

Should've been Gore or Hyde there on the half yard line. Also the jumbo package does it work? Seriously scrap that crap.

I can't remember the last time we had anything positive off the jumbo package. It's a redflag for our intentions, and we aren't over powering anyone.

Or maybe it was because the Rams stacked the line to stuff the run as they did TWICE in the first game we played them. We havent exactly been great in short yardage. PLENTY of blame to go around.

WHAT IS THERE TO BE SAID???
Once again we come out flat starting the game. Again inexcusable! Especially after a bye week!
Horrible o-line play killed any kind of momentum we could even try to get.
Last drive. Crabtree had a TD! Not a fan of the qb sneak with a rookie center. Again a bobbled snap. No gore? Reminds me of the super bowl all over again.
Roman needs to go. I've been ok letting him having shaky calls once in a while. But now there's just no consistency. Again I could be upset cuz the Oline gave kap no time.
Ugh 4-4 is garbage.

I wouldn't put the entire blame on Roman's shoulders but I thought this game was an example of what I've been griping about these past few years and that's our pass plays tend to be too long to develop and we just don't seem to have very many quick hitting 3 step drop kind of plays.
So it's clearly the offensive line's fault they couldn't maintain their blocks but Roman could've helped them out by calling more quick and easy pass plays.
And it's not that we didn't have those kind of plays this game but it's just we don't have enough of them.
This was a game I thought having an uptempo offense would've really been a boon for the offense but we just don't have it at all in our playbook. I mean every single two minute drill we have always has the announcer saying the same thing which is "The 9ers really let a lot of time off the clock".
Generally speaking I don't believe the pass attack is one of Roman's strong suits when it comes to calling those plays and designing them.

With so much pressure could we try a screen?

Like I said earlier, time to start evaluating. Crabtree certainly has ZERO leverage at this point in contract negotiations, as does Iupati. Boone is having a horrible season after his lengthy holdout. And of course the injuries dont help....On the other hand, Perrish Cox certainly has earned a new contract.

He didn't adjust!! Should have seen o-line was having problems and should have called plays to give him a little bit more protection. And running the damn ball more.

Re: WHAT IS THERE TO BE SAID???
We had a brand new rookie center and we kept spreading out the offense and watching our QB get sacked again and again, since we wanted to test the rookie cornerbacks of the Rams. But you HAVE to adjust after the O-Line couldn't handle the pressure. We have NEVER been a good team of adjusting after halftime. Harbs doesn't seem like the type of guy who will let Roman go, so maybe it's best for both to go and just promote Tomsula to HC

When I said earlier that it was time to start evaluating to see who belongs going forward and who doesent, that certainly includes Roman and/or Harbaugh too.

Re: WHAT IS THERE TO BE SAID???
I think it was reported earlier that Harbs has never fired anyone on his staff since he took over at Stanford, not sure if that's true or not, though. If it is....down with the ship, captain

Re: WHAT IS THERE TO BE SAID???
I really think the season is done, and I think everyone has had a hand in it on the offense. I'm really mad at the refs but it should never have gotten to that. I think this offense is seriously underachieving given the weapons they have.

Re: WHAT IS THERE TO BE SAID???
Game was lost by another classic trio of terribleness when all 3 key elements of the offense (QB, Coaching, O Line) are performing below average or terribly.
1. The biggest pile of shame goes to the offensive line which had a horrid game. Guys were getting beat physically and mentally as there were plenty of defenders going untouched right to the QB.
In their defense: Kap could've had some better awareness to help his offensive line and the coaching staff could've helped by calling some 3 step drops and other blitz killing plays to alleviate the pressure.
2. Speaking of coaching they go next in the pile of shame. With the offensive line getting killed we should've ran the ball more and had quicker hitting pass plays. Instead we still had deep drop backs with slow developing routes which meant by the time Kap finished his drop back he was fleeing for his life.
In their defense: It's cliched but the coaches can't play for these guys and make decisions for them. It's hard to really call anything when your offensive line can't even hold their blocks long enough for Kap to even set his feet and look for a WR.
3. The 3rd goes to Kap as I mainly fault him for a lack of situational awareness and poor football IQ. Can't take a sack when you're in FG range and I know he wants to make a play but sometimes you just gotta get rid of the ball instead of taking a sack.
In his defense: How many QBs are going to have good games under that much duress? And the biggest issue when a QB is under that much pressure is they lose trust in their offensive line so even when they do get a clean pocket their decision making is still sped up because they have no clue if the offensive line is going to hold their blocks for them. Sped up decision making leads to bad throws and bad decisions.

Despite all the pressure he faced, he still had a respectable showing 22/33 237 yards and 1TD...Obviously the QB -C exchange stunk, and yes I understand he is a new center, but they were coming off a bye week - so they had time to practice.

Re: WHAT IS THERE TO BE SAID???
The OL was just downright pathetic yesterday. They've been struggling in the run game as well, the guys are just not blowing up opposing DL anymore. Defense played well enough for this game to be won. Andy Lee's shank is just inexcusable. Even a below average punt from Lee puts them in shoddy FG range.
No real big issues with Roman because of the POS O-Line but he should've done the opposite play calls at the 1. Run the ball on 2nd down(QB sneak or hand off to RB), if that didn't work, use your final timeout and call a playaction pass on 3rd down. If nothing is there, Colin can just throw it away and go for OT with a chip shot FG.
Even if they had won, I still wouldn't be happy with the performance yesterday. No big margin for error now with the loss, they pretty much have to go at least 6-2 to make the playoffs or hope the teams ahead of them run into some bad luck in a game or 2.
