2014/2015 Season Tracker Thread

Post#1 » by hands11 » Sat Nov 1, 2014 4:42 pm

Thought it might be interesting to have a macro thread to keep track what happens over the course of the season. Kind of a log to supplement the individual threads.

Well we started off the year with some suspensions and injuries but the board projects the team to be good and returning the playoffs. Experts projecting 49.5 wins and 3-4 in the conference.

Win Predictions Thread.
viewtopic.php?f=35&t=1337325

Mixed Preseason because of injuries. Beal hurt after two of them. Then Hump. Then Glen. Then Suspensions.

Beal out till Nov with a hand
Webster out till Nov with his back
Hump split his finger on the rim causing nerve damage but was ready off the bench game one.
Glen had a sprained ankle.
R Bulter made the final cut.
Nene and Blair were out game one suspended for the PP fight in preseason.

We have an decently easy schedule to start but lots of road games.

Team is

Wall/Miller/Temple
Beal/Webster/Glen Rice
PP/Otto/R Butler
Nene/Hump/Gooden
Gortat/Blair/KS

But we are starting the year.

Wall/Miller
Temple/Glen Rice
PP/Otto/R Butler
Nene/Gooden/Hump (in either order but Hump still recovering from the hand thing)
Gortat/Blair/KS

Lost in MIA

http://espn.go.com/nba/recap?id=400578299

Gooden started with Nene and Blair out and came out of fire. But the team defense was terrible. Wall didnt shoot enough and Wade, Bosh and Coles went off.

But Otto looked real nice.

Game 2 - Wizards vs Orlando WIN in ORL Record Now 1-1

Game Thead - GT #2: Wizards (0-1) @ Magic (0-1) 7 PM CSN
viewtopic.php?f=35&t=1352109

Stats

Nene and Blair returned

Wall/Miller
Temple/Glen/RB
PP/Otto
Nene/Gooden
Gortat/Hump/Kevin

Temple started great hitting some 3s. Close at the half, but blow it open in the 3rd. Then KS happened. He come in a foul. Then fouled. Then turned over. It was ugly. ORL made a come back. Paul hit two click baseline shots down the stretch. Then drove and was foul. Then Wall took his turn and missed. We ended up waiting way with a win.

Gortat went off. So did Wall. The PnR is back. Hammer. Wall stepped it up and shot and drove more.

KS, Otto and Glen were all fouling machines that game.

Miller hasn't got it going yet in two game. Hump is still recovering but available.

Next up. Home opener against MIL Saturday

Game 3 - Wizards vs Bucks - Win - 108-97

Record 2-1

The Paul Peirce Ejection Game. Otto steps in and shines. Crowd was shouting Otto Porter....Otto Porter. Temple also played great along with Nene, Gortat and Wall

Otto Chant
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8VCV61B-dCI

Walls third straight double double. And he had one hell of a man on man defensive block. Wall is starting the games in pure passer mode and then bring the scoring later. He had 9 FTAs Team still not good as a whole though 24-33 and they not getting up or making enough 3s.. 4-13. But the assists are there 28 and the defense had MIL turning it over big time 27 turnovers. Team defense is getting better. They protected home court. Bench still hasn't produced though and A Miller is off to a slow start. Hopefully its just him working into shape and learning the new players. Randy admits he still needs to get the rotations right. Hopefully that involves pulling a starter early and making sure one of Nene or Gortat is always out there.

Other good news is, Wall is attacking the rim in the 2nd half. He has 9 FTA in each of the last two games.

Wall/Miller
Temple/Glen/RB
PP/Otto
Nene/Gooden
Gortat/Hump/Kevin

Injured:
Beal out until end of Nov
Webster out until end of Nov

Temple was 16 points (6-14 fg), 4 dimes, 7 boards
Went to OT but they pulled it out.

John Wall had seven of his 31 points in overtime for the Wizards
7-foot-2 center Roy Hibbert ended up taking a 3 to end the game and missed.

Game 6 - Wizards (4-1) in TOR (4-1)

Record 4-2 Loss 84-103

after 1 day rest. Battle for best in the East

Stats
http://espn.go.com/nba/boxscore?gameId=400578369

The "Randy - Call a F ing Time Out Already Game - It was over in the first quarter

Randy reverted to sucking about calling a TO. Didn’t call a time out until 4:33 down 6-19

They were hitting everything and 3 balls and we were ice cold and Randy did nothing to stop the early momentum they built and calm his team down to regroup. Wall had two early air balls and just wasn't right after that. T Ross went off early from 3.

Wall, Nene, Temple, Paul. They were all bad. At least Hump got 15 min and showed what he will be able to offer. Bench was productive. Miller was 4-4. Otto was 6-9. They came back at one point but to little two late. Mostly I blame Randy for letting it get out of hand. And we had a Rasual sighting which was great. We need help at SG depth. Glen hasn't shown anything.

Wall/Miller
Temple/Rasual
PP/Otto
Nene/Gooden
Gortat/Kevin/Hump

Glen got some crumbs 4 min and Blair got 5 but Hump off the bench got 15 min and looked good.
Rice mouthed off the Randy when headed to the bench. :nonono:

Injured:
Beal out until end of Nov
Webster out until end of Nov/Dec

this is embarrasing. Only 2 guys with energy are Wall & OP but Witt wont play OP much and Wall is scared to shoot after the 2 air balls. Also looked like Wall & Nene were getting into it. Just looks like we are stuck in mud.

Like how Randy waited till they are 21 down to do something about this. Maybe try stopping the bleeding earlier you buffoon.

Humphries first game as first big off the bench

Great start but Randy didn’t adjust to Paul shucking. Momentum changed. Close game but a win.
32-12 Wizards after the first.

We completely outplayed them but we shoot and hit no 3s to games a tight.
2-11 from 3 vs 8-24

Paul still not shooting well.
Temple is now not producing as much 1-4 and 1-3 from 3 but 6 rebounds 2 assists.
RB is the back up SG now. Glen has been benched. RB was 4-7 and that helped

Sloan was hot like the previous game but Solomon Hill was 10-19 for 28 pts

Wall/Miller

Game 8 - Nov 12th Wizards (5-2) vs DET (1-6) in DC

Win Record 6-2 107-103 1st in the Division .. 3rd in the East behind CHI and TOR but only 1/2 game out

First game after several days rest and more rest after this game. The season started with lots of games and now its slowing down. Close game but they pulled it out. Still playing under manned without Beal and Webby but pulling out games they should win and winning at home.

No 3 ball shooting is hurting and so is no rim protection. But wins are wins. They are learning each other and growing as a team.

Stats
http://espn.go.com/nba/boxscore?gameId=400578401

The Rasual Bulter Break Out Game

He came up big down the stretch and Wall was great all game as well. Wall is really maturing

Brandon Jennings was blazing.

Wall had 27 points and 11 assists. He hit 13 of his 16 free throws.

Rasual Butler had 18 points for the Wizards. His two free throws with 4 seconds to play put Washington ahead 107-103. Butler made seven of his eight field goal attempts.

Peirce bounced back on some rested legs. 5-11 and got the tip out to help seal the game.

We went inside early and got their bigs in foul trouble.

Wall/Miller
Temple/Rasual
PP/Otto
Nene/Hump
Gortat/Kevin

Injured:
Beal out until end of Nov - newly announced. Beal expected back Nov 21 at home against CLE
