Hawks want M. Gasol

Post#1 » by Hawk Eye » Sun Nov 2, 2014 5:07 am

I'd like to get some feedback on this trade proposal from some Grizzlies on the board. If you guys felt like you didn't have a great shot at resigning Marc then how does this offer sound?

ATL Out: Milsap, Bazemore or Jenkins, & 2015 1st (rights to swap with BRK)
ATL In: M. Gasol

PHX Out: A. Len, MIN 2015 1st (13-30)
PHX In: Jenkins or Bazemore & Milsap

MEM Out: M. Gasol
MEM In: A. Len, MIN 2015 1st (13-30), ATL 2015 1st (right to swap w/BRK)

Hawks Reason: we add a center who fits our system perfectly. Horford slides to PF and we now have one of the best if not the best front courts in the east.

Suns Reason: Pheonix adds the missing piece to their starting 5 to take them further in the tough west. They still get to keep their other two 2015 1sts. Adding Bazemore or jenkins is a nice addition as well.

Grizzlies Reason: Grizzlies get a nice C prospect in Len along with two 2015 1st round picks.

And before you reply back with a snarky "well it's better than nothing with him leaving for NY", he'd leave ATL even quicker.

Marc will get a max offer from the Grizz. We'll just have to see what happens.

Marc has roots in Memphis and Robert Pera is very rich. He´ll only leave if he want, but I can´t see this happening

Pure cap space might just be better than Len's contract and the guaranteed contracts of two late first rounders. Just sayin'

The incessant speculation by the New York media/fan base that Gasol will undoubtedly be itching to leave Memphis for the Knicks will be really vexing this year, but really I just don't see him leaving Memphis.

He loves Memphis, the Grizz are a perennial contender, and they're going to be in a position cap-wise this summer to max him out AND add another (perhaps the final?) piece. Memphis is much closer to winning a championship than the Knicks. They can give him more money than the Knicks and any other team in the league. And as BarbaGrizz said, he has roots here.

I'm not worried, and I certainly wouldn't be willing to trade him for this craptastic package.

Even the subject of this topic is wrong. It is not just the Hawks, the whole league would get MGasol if they could afford him. As it was mentioned, Marc has roots in memphis. I dont see him moving anywhere. It would be very disappointing if he chooses to be elsewhere.

Anyway, the proposal is just horrible for the Grizzs. Maybe for the future and even that, it probably wont work out, but to be honest, Grizzs still have to look at the present considering the players we have and their age...
