Sacre

Post#1 » by ChokeFasncists » Mon Nov 3, 2014 9:52 am

I don't understand why so many here think so lowly of him and don't want him to play at all?

It seems to me he has a good midrange, is the only true center on the roster and is relatively new to the league. Why not give him a chance to develop?

(I do notice that his boneheaded plays, TOs and ill-adviced shots are annoying; and his defensive rebounding numbers are low for a 7 footer)

So, does he have a future in this league? Can he contribute this season? Does it make sense to play him when the opponents have a good ole big bad center?

he is a 3rd string C. but because of the injuries he is getting way more playing time as he should. i think thats where people's expectations fail them.

thats his only value to the team imo

hes pretty useful for pick and pop and occasional post up situation vs other team's sceond unit or mismatches, but thats about it

can't defend, can't rebound, can't drive hard to the basket (either he loses the ball or can't finish), and pretty much what you said about his negatives (boneheaded plays, TOs and ill-adviced shots like he's kobe bean)

bad things happen when he's on the court. just dont let him get more than 5 minutes on the court.

i think he's that bad

Sacre has been given a chance to develop. He simply doesn't have much of a ceiling. He doesn't play as big as his 6'11" frame, the dude just plods around. I don't mind him at the end of the bench, but he's not a rotation player.

Sacre routinely commits offensive fouls doing basic stuff like handing the ball to a guard. That should be enough to tell you he should be sitting permanently on the bench.

The last time Lakers was relevant, when we draft then sign him.

After that ?
Lakers barely make the playoff in 2013
Kobe season ending injury twice
Nash season ending injury twice or more
Howard left
Pau left
Randle injured himself when play on the same floor with Sacre
Lakers missed out mid-major FA
Lin hurts because stepped on Sacre's foot
Sacre dont carry Nash's bag
And many more

And to be fair, its not all his fault, and offensively he's better than most 3rd stringer big.

He is a 3rd string center
Whose best attribute is that he is happy to sit on the bench and provide high fives and cheer

Don't mind him at all
USA Celtics in full effect. Amazing chemistry building experience right there for the main core of the team

You always need a practice big who is good for squad morale. Sacre is exactly that guy, nothing more, nothing less. Its not his fault he is playing.

He's from North Van, so I'll just say I'm glad he's stuck in the league so far, and that's it.

Cool, cool. But any chance he could improve defensively?

He's too damn slow and not explosive to be a great help defender, IMO.

He's just not aggressive, but I've just observed he has added some offense to his "game." I'll give him props for that.

Wow, North Van represent! I watched Sacre play against my high school, he was killing everyone. Makes you think how talented NBA players are

I can't remember where I read it, but the paraphrased quote that "that guy sitting at the end of the bench is probably the greatest athlete his school has ever seen" really rings true.

Honeslty his had a fair go from the Lakers given plenty of time to develope although I'm yet to see much improvement maybe it would help if he bulked his whole body up.

I expected him to be out of the league by end of season.

He has all the tools to be a solid NBA player but I don't see progress. The issues are with his BBall IQ. I would suggest Sacre doing what Farmer did and playing for the D-Fenders while he is playing for the Lakers. When he is on the D-League floor he needs to visualize where he needs to be and approach the D-league games like it is a Laker game. Sacre needs to read the game well and watch Faried tape. Develop that IQ where he can be a spark plug.

I hope Sacre can put the pieces together. He seems like a very likable guy. Huge burrito.

Sacre isn't the problem, the problem is that our team is so bad he's top on the depth chart for our center.
