Nuggets Draft Talk

Post#1 » by tylaw_3 » Sun Sep 28, 2014 11:49 pm

I know the draft is over, but i'm wondering what people thought about the draft day trade involving Doug McDermott traded for Gary Harris and Jusuf Nurkic. Personally, I am happy with the trade. Given the past record of unathletic college scorers (Jimmer Fredette, Adam Morrison, etc...) I think mcbuckets is a bit overrated. A lot of people are predicting him to be really good. I do have my worries about Gary Harris at the 2 spot with him 6'2 height and jusuf could take a while to develop into Mozgov version 2 which isn't much help. What do you guys think??

Persnally, i think Doug McDermott is going to better than Gordan Hayward and Chandler Parson but i dont regret doing the harris/nurkic trade because i thought going into the draft that we needs to draft based on positional need instead of best available. Doug Mcbuckets should avg 14 to 15 this year if not more as a starter.

In regards to harris and nurkic, i really liked us picking up nurkic. you dont find to many 18yr old 7 footers who are bigger than alot of the nba vets already in his young career. he has the size so now it just comes down to how skilled is the kid.

going into the draft, gary harris was actually on my "do not draft" list because i didnt want a sg who was randy foyes height or shorter. i knew of harris but didnt watch alot of him in college. he looked very good in that raptors summer league game and im hoping to see more of that going foward. the nuggs will essentially
slide harris into evan fournier's old role and if he plays as efficient as he was in the summer league, i think that can be a really big help for the nuggets.

i think its worth noting that in college, gary harris used to punish victor oladipo, who has made a name for himself in his 1st year in the nba

Nikola Jokic had 17pts,10rbs and 8asts in the ABA League against Zadar today. So far on the season he is averaging 16.7pts, 10.1rbs and 4.8asts.

Kid is a beast.

We probably don't need to bring him in next year as we'll still have McGee, Nurkic and Mozgov but I'd like to bring him in the year after.

Europeans are our frontcourt for the future.

Yeah I think it's too soon for him even though he's putting up better numbers than Nurkic did in the ABA League. Jokic is going to be a solid NBA PF for many years. He reminds me of Luis Scola but with a 3pt shot.
