DID YORK ERR IN NOT SECURING HARBAUGH???
Based on everything that we know about Jim Harbaugh, did York make a mistake in not making him highest paid coach in football? This is obviously creating a distraction as many are questioning Harbaugh's committment. But most knew even back in 2011 that he wouldnt be here 10 years anyway....It is well documented that York approached him at least twice for a new deal with a raise but that Harbaugh rejected it. What do you all think?

cant say its an error, most faithful thought it was a given that we'll keep Harbaugh to the end of days....

I think it's sort of a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation. Pay the man and his deal is the talk of the entire season; don't pay the man (but keep negotiating) and the entire season is about how Harbaugh is distracted or a diva.
Tabling discussions was a smart move since obviously both sides weren't on the same page.
Even Jerry Rice is saying Harbaugh is gone "no matter what" after this season. And I pretty much tune out everything Rice says unless it's about running routes.

Thank you! Two disclaimers with that though:
1) Not that Rice can't be right about something at all, especially when all he was asked for was his opinion, but the man is so incredibly hard to listen to and USUALLY can't present a convincing argument when called upon in most forums.
2) For all the talk of Rice becoming a coach someday, I have heard from people who have spent time working with him that they don't even feel he'd even be that great of a teacher unless you get the right kind of kid to work with him either. So I'd have major reservations saying he even has THAT going for him these days.

What if harbaugh doesn't want to be here already?
Either way I really hope they figure this out soon. I'm tired of the chatter and don't think we can do better or even match harbaugh in a new hire.
