Hawks vs. Spurs Game Thread

Spurs East vs. Defending Champs: Both teams have had at least 4 days of rest. This is will be a great early season test for our guys, last year we lost the game in San Antonio thanks to a Tim Duncan buzzer beater.

What I wanna see:
1) Horford continue to get back into game form
2) Teague to stay aggressive through the majority of the game, not just in spurts
3) A highly competitive match which will prove that we can go toe to toe with the best

Key Matchup:

Point Guard Duel

Bonus Key Matchup:

Protege vs. Mentor

GO HAWKS!!

Here are some things I will be looking for..

The Boards

The last two games we have been out rebounded. The first game was pretty bad and the second game was a little better but still bad. IMO, we should not have been out-rebounded by that crippled pacers team. So I will be looking for improvement on the glass for sure.

The Young Guns

Schroder has received back to back DNP's. Payne hasn't played at all but that's due to the minor foot injury he currently has. Jenkins had a strong pre-season showing and he hasn't played at all yet either. Does he have an injury? I don't believe he does...anyways. I'm ready to start seeing our young guys (mainly schroeder) get out on the court.

Hooray, a Hawks game...don't know how to act, now! 8-) Plz let them get this to end the SA losing streak.
Where the offseason has more buzz happens.

We all know how difficult this game will be for us.
I'm hoping for the best and would like to see us stay competitive.
A win would be outstanding, but I won't get my hopes up, so I'm going to take the "It is, what it is" approach tonight.

What's the status on Korver? Is he starting/playing?

He practiced yesterday, and is expected to play.

Spurs are a well oiled machine. Frustrating to watch.

We aren't making our shots and then on top of that the refs are punking us. Terrible.

I really like our team but wish we had someone who can play angry. Actually, let's put Mike Scott in.

Spurs don't need any extra help but the refs don't care, they're doing their best to make this as one sided as possible.

One thing that annoys me watching this team is that almost NO ONE looks for their shot first. They look almost exclusively to pass. There's also no one who is willing to put the ball down and take his man to the basket.

Yeah you want to play team basketball - but part of playing effective team basketball is knowing when you have a decent look and going for it.

I mean **** when Boris Diaw is taking it to the basket repeatedly and no one on our team is willing to drive it you have a problem.

lol, according to Wilkins, stepping on a guy isn't a foul.

Look at that, they take the open shots and suddenly we're back in the game.

Dennis looks good; Thabo too.

******* Disgusting. I've always said it: nba refs are the worst on the planet.

What a game. Great fight but once again EXECUTION down the stretch kills us. Stupid fouls(korver on manu 3) , bad calls (manu 2 go ahead ft)

Pero with quite possibly the worst entry pass ever. Hits teague before he curls and basically sells him out into a double team then retreats to half court?????

Idiot.

But great game , like the fight

Great game guys. If you guys keep this up you'll be a force in the east.

Dennis Schroder really needs more minutes, I'm sick of watching him rot away on the bench. I'd like to see more of him than Mack next game.
