If AV is really getting a 3/30 extension then no way Thompson gets a big contract in Cleveland. Can't pay Love a max and 8 figures for both TT and AV with Kyrie's extension kicking in.

If past is prologue, then garbage men play well on good teams, get overpaid by bad teams, and quickly crash back to Earth.

The contracts that the Knicks give out skew the numbers, you can't use that as an example.

Farried has been so overrated. Look at their production next to each other and add the fact farried is one of the worst defensive bigs in the league

Faried plays with an energy intensity that maybe 5 other players in the entire league possess, this can not be quantified with stats and was ever apparent during the Championships over the summer (if it hadn't already been previously realized) where he was borderline the best player throughout the tournament. He's pretty easy to hide on defense because of that and I personally don't think he's that bad there, bit worse then average maybe.

You can just trade him for a cheaper guy like Hickson or a similar 3rd string, he is a back-up, you dont spend 8-10m$ in back-up big men.
You can have pretty good ones for half that price.

Last night showed that while he's a backup, he might be the best backup big in the league. He's also a backup who's going to start when AV goes down, which WILL happen.

taj gibson was deemed as best backup for years, and last night, well we seen, although it is one game, TT has been playing well (maybe not 12m well but close) for last 2 games/pre season.

Taj Gibson got under 10 per but that was 2 years ago, before all the organizations got max happy, he was also 4 years older than TT at the time. He also averaged roughly the half what TT averages.

all that, plus Rich Paul + LBJ factor... yeah, we'll likely pay him his 12.

next up, Dion Waiters, who I'm thinking also gets 12.

I like TT alot, probably more than most given some of his limitations.

He has one truly elite skill and that's offensive rebounding. To his credit he has really worked hard to improve his offensive game also - amazing to see him actually hitting FT's with good form now.

If he was a better shot blocker it would be a no brainer. It's odd he is not a better rim protector given he had pretty good shot blocking numbers in college.

I'd still probably pay him decent money on an extension.

This is exactly why he had no trade value last off season.

A man's worth differs depending on the team. If he plays with intensity all year long and the Cavs go far into the playoffs, his worth increases. The same play is worth less if he played for the Kings.

did Taj Gibson die or something? and TT is not even a top 5, his offensive game or lack there off prevents him from that. Now that Davis is in LA and watching the clev/Por game last nite, I really don't see that big of a difference between the 2.

I read the rest I didn't feel the need to quote it cause you used one game to justify your comment of TT being "the best" backup big in the league. If anyone here need meds its you, just the mere fact all he can do is dunk and put backs prevents him from being tops of anything.

My guess is you're also one of those people who thinks varejao is just a "hustle player" despite not being that since 09-10 season.

naw I think of Andy as an injury prone overpaid big, he's only earned his "contract" that one year when he was avg. monster double for the 1st qtr of the season and sure enough had season ending injury...but you tell me what Varajao is? As for TT, how does a big with no offensive game never mgmt. to have a fg% over 50?
